Jason Plummer, of Edwardsville, confirmed on Facebook he is seeking the seat being vacated by state Sen. Kyle McCarter, R-Lebanon, who said he is not running for re-election. […]
Plummer is the fourth candidate to jump into the Republican primary for the 54th state senate district. Also running are Rafael Him of New Baden, Ben Stratemeyer of Centralia, and George Barber, the Greenville University men’s basketball coach.
Plummer, the vice president of R.P. Lumber, was the lieutenant governor nominee when state Sen. Bill Brady, R-Bloomington, ran for governor in 2010. Brady lost to former governor Pat Quinn.
In 2012, he was the GOP candidate in the 12th congressional district and lost to Democrat Bill Enyart, of Belleville.

should be a slam dunk win for Plumber, hoping he has matured a bit since his last runs for office. but one cant help but wonder what is the end game for a guy like this? has he gone underground enough that after some time in the Illinois state Senate will he be able to return to a bigger stage? best of luck JP, you probably wont need it though.

OW, please provide context on your dislike for JP. I was not living in Illinois during his run for LT gov. So i know very little about him other than the fact he has a ton of money and can easily self fund a hard R state senate race. I am not being sarcastic at all please provide a history lesson, Mr. Burgundy seems to be aware of your disdain but others including myself might not.

He had the money and made the effort to win a statewide GOP contested primary.
Plummer remains the only GOP candidate at any level I’ve ever received direct mail from in 25 years at the same address.

At 27, did JB think he could run the 5th largest state in America?
Further, if you’d like, I’ll pull up the Diana Rauner quote, speaking glowingly how JB, and his foundation and the family have been leaders and been committed to people.
Jason was committed to getting a free ride at 27 and not acknowledging he couldn’t be prepared to run Illinois.

Kind of hypocritical of some people to harp on a guy like Plummer for being involved in his family business but not Dem politicians and union leadership who got their positions because of family ties.

OW: 3 other guys with no chance of winning now that Plummer has entered the race. You seem to have some really weird obsession with him, but he and his family are still highly respected in southern IL. He easily takes 50-60% of the vote in this primary, with the other three (Him, Barber and Stratmeyer) divvying up the rest.

I don’t always agree with Oswego Willy, but when I do, it’s all in.
I’m from Macoupin, and I remember feeling ashamed watching his advertisements the last time he ran for office.
I don’t hope so much that he’s matured for a 2018 run, as I just hope he drops out of the race and stays out of politics for as long as I’m breathing.

“Get the Job Done.” - What job are you getting done though?
“Protect Our Communities.” - From what?
“Defend Our Values.” - And what are those values?
I’m confident your family is really looking forward to having you away from the store for a while. Not having to explain everything over and over again for you will make quarterly business meetings and earnings reporting go a lot quicker.

It takes lots of people eight years to graduate college. Yes they’re called doctors.
It’d be awesome if Plummers luggage as he went town to town was a black hefty bag full of his literature.
We could save money on mileage if we didn’t always have to go through Atlanta, I mean Georgia is really a long way to pass through to get to Springfield.
