* The three Republican governors who appeared in Gov. Bruce Rauner’s new TV ad are getting a bit of grief from Democrats in their home states…
The three governors say the troubles in Illinois have created new jobs in Wisconsin, Indiana and Missouri. The ad debuted Tuesday, October 24th.
“Our economy’s on fire…so we owe you,” [Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker] says. “Cheeseheads love you, Madigan.”
Democrats said Walker should focus on his own job and improve Wisconsin’s slow economic growth.
“Gov. Walker cutting an attack ad on jobs in Illinois is a bizarre move for a guy who broke his 2010 promise to create 250,000 jobs in here by 2014 and still hasn’t gotten to that number in 2017,” said Scot Ross, executive director of the liberal group One Wisconsin Now.

Rauner donated $100,000 of his own money to Holcomb’s campaign last year immediately after Indiana’s then-lieutenant governor secured the Republican nomination for the state’s top job.
Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody wasn’t impressed by Holcomb’s appearance in Rauner’s ad.
“Gov. Holcomb is implying his party’s policies aren’t responsible for growing good-paying jobs in Indiana, and he’s right about that,” Zody said. “Fact is, Indiana remains 38th in per capita income, and there is no plan to grow wages at the Statehouse — except to study the pay of state elected officials.”

In the latest example of Governor Greitens caring more about out-of-state politicians and wealthy campaign donors than working Missourians, the Missouri Democratic Party is highlighting that Greitens recently focused his attention on shooting a TV ad for an Illinois politician who gave $100,000 to his campaign last year.
In the TV ad for Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, Eric Greitens talks directly to the camera, along with other anti-worker politicians like Governor Scott Walker, in an attempt to explain why the Republican Governor of Illinois should not be blamed for the state’s economic problems.
“When Eric Greitens promised he’d be an outsider, who would of guessed he literally meant he’d spend all his time and attention outside of Missouri?” said Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber. “But then again, we’re not surprised he found a way to step in front of a camera – especially in an attempt to help another politician and wealthy campaign donor.”

It was a fraught concept for an ad from the get-go, but I’m surprised at how much pushback it’s already getting. I thought it was going to be one of the slow-burn-leave-a-bad-taste-in-the-mouth kind of things.

The Governors of those states would be better served taking care of business in their own back yard. We the People will make our own decision for Governor. If I valued their input into how Illinois is run, their opinion would matter. We don’t need the help, Thanks anyway.

Opposition party says opposing things. They have to do this because politics is sports and disingenuity is required for the job (I mean that seriously and not critically). Surely they could have come up with something harsher than “focus on our state” and “don’t help allied politicians and wealthy donors.”

Walker running on his own “record” was one of the first to drop out for President. Maybe Wisconsinites have a point. Focus on home?
The other two are newly minted. They need to find how far they can go away from their own borders before feeling that state pull back the leash.
All they said Rauner is inept, so I really can’t see why their home states are angry. Rauner is helping, and the Guvs are thanking Madigan for continually making Rauner lose.

Doubt the historic Il 17 ever votes for Madigan again though. We are a hurtin and I don’t see no reinforcements comin.

Maybe Rauner should emulate Walker and
Greitens and push graduated income taxes like they have with their fat top rates.
Or Holcombe, with Indiana’s county income taxes on top of state income taxes.

Was at a fundraiser last night for a local official. When I say that ad was the most talked about topic of the night I’m not kidding. Republicans-Democrats- union guys all in attendance and not one thought it wasn’t effective. Like it or not it’s getting people’s attention

It’s all partisan politics–Rauner gave them money, they gave him material for an ad, Democrats in their home states jump on them for it.
This is not news, but as with most politics these days, it is demeaning and makes me feel dirty for having been exposed to it.

This is one of the greatest political ads ever. Mocking Mike Madigan and union run Illinois. Rauner might not have a great record to run on but that ad is a 10 of 10. It’s got everyone talking and it’s unforgettable . It’s not an ad anyone is going to forget.

Wisconsin and Indiana have posted job losses in four of seven months, March-September 2017. Missouri lost 10,500 in September 2017, and lost jobs in three of seven months, in the period of March-September 2017. The governors are in no position to criticize other states.
The RtW that Greitens signed into law is being challenged via ballot measure, so that might be on the way out.
Good for Madigan to speak out against the ad, but Illinois Democrats have to get involved in attacking it and Rauner. After all, the purpose of union-busting, Rauner’s primary goal, is to cripple the political opposition. That’s you, DPI.

Any Union or Union member thinking Rauner is the right choice this time either pays no attention or is too ignorant at this point to help them.

Steve I forgot it already. People without skin in the game telling Illinoisans what our problems are does not make me want to take their advise. It is interesting they even know who Madigan is. I give it a 3 at best. Just talking heads doing more talking.

I can’t understand why Dems are so worked up about this ad. If this ad, or another like it, is enough to get Illinois conservatives and Trump supporters to vote for Rauner next fall after lying to their faces and approving taxpayer funded abortions as well as turning Illinois into a sanctuary state for criminal illegal aliens, that will finally show what is really in their hearts. Liberals have always accused them of being hypocrites who care more about their team winning than they do about the safety of their country or their beloved “conservative values” that they’re always talking about. Next years election will finally show if they’ve been telling the truth this whole time and will refuse to vote for RINO Rauner, or if they really are the lying liars we suspect them of being. I for one look forward to learning whether people like Jeanne Ives, Peter Breen, Paul Caprio and their ilk have any honest bones in their bodies.

The real issue here is greed, pure and simple. Average Americans want a few simple things in life, pride in what they do, so they can have a nice home, send their kids to college and take a vacation once in a while. That’s not asking a lot. They want a decent wage. No politician in DC deserves to make a half a million in donations from lobbyists. Governors should not advocate ways for corporations to pay people less, and to pay no taxes, America grew when Corps paid higher taxes, while investing in this country, not paying pennies to an Asian child to do an adult American’s job. Lets just be fair, lets bring jobs home, no CEO needs o make $30-70 Millions per year, Corporations should start to care about their employees. I know this sounds idyllic but what’s wrong with that? It is how America grew.

Yes. I don’t want my governor claiming that we’re just passive losers catching the lucky crumbs fall off of another state’s tables.
That’s what those three party guests of Rauner’s implied. Not good. Then - these guys didn’t thank Rauner for giving them more money than most citizens don’t earn working two full time jobs.
These guys ought to be criticized. They insulted their state. Indiana, Wisconsin and Indiana shouldn’t be portrayed as leeches. The governors should be criticized. Shame on them for being bought and paid Rauner re-election assistants.
There are hundreds of people working hard to present thdir states as great places to do business in. They deserve credit for their work and dedication. It’s not about another state’s speaker of the house.
Yeah-these governors got played and used by the worse governor in the history of Illinois.

It’s an effective ad and there’s nothing unpredictable about who’s criticizing it. It’s an exercise to go through without any regard to any effect their criticism has.

Illinois is a great state. It has massive problems, but so many great people and things. If it wasn’t great, Bruce Rauner, Ken Griffin and other supporters and funders wouldn’t have lived and built their businesses here.
Let us not be fooled. If Illinois was so bad, Rauner and Griffin would have moved to Wisconsin and Indiana a long time ago.

Left leaning Politifact earns the scorn they receive for pretending to be a neutral arbiter. They make this ridiculous claim each job will cost, as Austin Powers said: 1 million dollars, and then writes this absurdity:

Gronik says Wisconsin is “guaranteeing Foxconn almost $3 billion, but Foxconn is not contractually guaranteeing how many full-time employees it will hire, for how long and at what pay.”
Wisconsin is guaranteeing to pay Foxconn up to $2.85 billion — but the full amount would be paid only if the company invests at least $9 billion in its plant and, in rough numbers, employs at least 13,000 people earning at least $30,000 per year.
The payments would be less, if Foxconn doesn’t meet those targets.
It’s true that Foxconn is not guaranteeing how many people it will hire, for how long and at what pay. That means it’s theoretically possible the company could earn up to $1.35 billion in investment incentives but not employ anyone, if it built the facility but never operated it. But the other $1.5 billion would be paid, on a graduated basis, only as people are employed at the plant.
For a statement that is partially accurate, our rating is Half True.
They say in their own words FOXCONN would only get the full 3 billion if they employ 13,000 people and then backtrack and rate the claim half true (also know as half false) if they only employed 3,000.
