*** UPDATED x1 - Berrios responds *** Bernie Sanders campaign offshoot “Our Revolution” to endorse Berrios opponent

Posted in:

[Bumped up for visibility.]

* Press release…

Good evening,

Below, please find a media advisory outlining Our Revolution’s endorsement tomorrow of the Fritz Kaegi campaign for Cook County Assessor. The organization’s Executive Director Clem Balanoff will be joined by County Board Commissioner Chuy Garcia, Cook County Clerk David Orr as well as other public officials and community leaders.

Please let me know if additional information would be helpful. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Regards,

DeRondal Bevly
Communications Director
Fritz Kaegi for Cook County Assessor

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Kaegi’s campaign is not getting nearly the media coverage it deserves. And he’s not doing badly with the money, either.

*** UPDATE *** Berrios campaign…

“It’s hypocritical that Senator Bernie Sanders’ organization is endorsing Fritz Kaegi, a Wall Street investment manager. During Bernie’s presidential campaign, he referred to Wall Street-types as reckless for their role in the financial collapse and profiting off the backs of working families and now they turn around and accept him as one of their own,” said Berrios’ Campaign Manager Mario Lopez.

  1. Kaegi needs to get his message out. Berrios is hoping that his opponent remains an unknown. Berrios is an embarrassment and needs to go.

    Can we dump Tim Evans too while we’re cleaning house here?

  2. Many of the progressive grassroots groups strongly support Kaegi and are advocating for him. At least there, he’s not an unknown at all.

  3. ==Kaegi needs to get his message out.==

    Message: I’m not Berrios.

  4. The reason Kaegi’s campaign isn’t getting media attention is Kaegi himself.

    He has the personality & charisma of a wet napkin.

  5. Glad to hear Bernie is in on this fight, can only help to bring more media and money to Fritz.

  6. –Can we dump Tim Evans too while we’re cleaning house here?–

    Wouldn’t that be nice? But Cook judges never get dumped, and only his fellow judges can remove him as Chief.

  7. @Grand Avenue - I’d vote for a literal wet napkin over Berrios.

  8. This is the exact kind of race Our Revolution should be in on. Bonus: it’s good training for the mayor’s race in ‘19.

    Comment by Arsenal Wednesday, Nov 29, 17 @ 10:04 am

  9. It’s just one anecdote, but I heard from someone who circulated the county slate petition who said as many people objected to signing for Berrios as they did for Preckwinkle.

  10. I’ve only voted *not* Democratic once in my life. It was when Forrest Claypool ran as an indie against Berrios in I think 2010. Berrios is an embarrassment.

    Comment by Anon Wednesday, Nov 29, 17 @ 11:32 am

  11. If Fioretti and Kaegi both survive petition challenges, their campaigns can push the message that people can actually get rid of Berrios and Preckwinkle. That may be enough.

  12. Can we dump Tim Evans too while we’re cleaning house here?”

    How about Prekwinkle, Dart and Foxx as well?

  13. Sorry, forgot about D. Brown too.

  14. ==He has the personality & charisma of a wet napkin.==

    I have now met Fritz three times and seen him speak twice. He is anything but a wet napkin. He is dynamic and provides detailed plans he has for riding us of the backroom dealing and corruption in the Assessor’s office. Is he Barak Obama, no, but who is?

    Comment by City Boy Wednesday, Nov 29, 17 @ 4:22 pm

  15. I’ve always preferred casting no vote instead of endorsing an unopposed Berrios. When was the last time Berrios had ANY legitimate opposition in a primary?

  16. Good get having Mario Lopez as the spokesman….unless it’s a different Mario Lopez. /s
