The Best fans in baseball are apparently not enough to attract Stanton as he is only willing to go to the following teams: Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs, or Astros.

-Iggy, it was priceless. I never understood why Cardinals fans thought so highly of themselves. They don’t have nearly as rich of a history as the Cubs or Dodgers, and certainly they are nowhere near the Yankees.

Interesting news.
I mean Stanton would be fun to watch, but I’d rather the Cubs focus on pitching as a Cubbie fan. We technically got the bats–as long as the boys remember how to swing this next year–but our starting rotation and bullpen need a lot of work.
Still glad to see the Cards look like they’re out of the running. My lil brother will be devastated. Muhuhaha!

I don’t know about anyone else, but it seems to me that there’s a prevalent trend from within the Illinois Democratic Party, more so than usual during primary season. Speaking in very general terms, I think a lot of democrats running for office right now are losing sight on fixing what’s wrong with the current administration in Springfield.”

My apologies for the lack of conciseness in my last comment, I had thought I had elaborated more than what was posted. What I’m saying is that I think Illinois democrats are focused on attacking each other rather than the current administration in Springfield.

Rauner and the ILRB didn’t petition the appellate court for rehearing in the step increases case before the deadline. Maybe unsurprising since it was a uninamous decision. They have, I believe, until December 21 to petition the IL Supreme Court for review. Think they’ll do it?

both parties have members that have been in the GA for far too long. If your first term started in the 70s,80s,or even the 90s, you have probably been there too long and you deserve a primary opponent. To blame the Springfield dysfunction on the executive office alone is absurd. For far too long too many state rep races went uncontested, or they drew no primary challenge. We should all be excited to see the old guard challenged on both sides of the isle.

I suggest you look up the history of the Cardinals and post what you find out. BTW, I’ve never read any mention of the Cubs & Stanton. Congrats signing Chatwood or was it Jimmy Chitwood of Hoosiers fame. LOL, the Cubs reign is over.

Oh, no I agree. I just think in pursuing such, that democrats are getting a little too carried away. To be a little clearer, Chris Kennedy, for example, called for Joe Berrios to resign. Chris Kennedy isn’t competing against Joe in a bid to be the Cook County Comptroller, as someone running for governor, all he’s doing here is making an needless enemy for himself that could very well be a very powerful ally as a practicality to govern without internal resistance from whom he should be allying with.

Peoria was always a great place to visit on the weekend in college. It was always fun to hit up the Joes crab shack and then the river boat. Also I got to see a lot of great concerts in Peoria for a lot less than I would have paid in Chicago.

I agree with primary challengers and valid criticisms. However, take someone like Chris Kennedy for example, who is calling for Joe Berrios to resign. This makes good for populist rhetoric, however if he were to be elected as governor this wouldn’t serve to be practical to create enemies from within your own party.

You Cubs fans are hilarious. Everyone knows the Yankees have won more World Series than anyone else. Who is #2? That’s right, the Cardinals, with victories in almost every decade in the last 100 years, showing long-term excellent performance. That is history and tradition.

I agree wholeheartedly, however, this should be kept within the realm of practical governance and logical, valid criticisms over simple rhetoric that could very well backfire.

Iggy, being a White Sox fan, I don’t normally defend the Cardinals. But their history is actually filled with a lot more winning than the Cubs, or even the Dodgers for that matter. And when you play for the Cardinals, you are like a God in St Louis. He wants the Dodgers. He just does. And when you have a no-trade clause, why settle?

I got to see my favorite band there in both ‘15 and ‘16. Not too bad of a drive from Chicago, much less expensive, light crowds so we could get close in general admission. Had some good food and good weekends both times. Would recommend.

1) Remind me, does Stanton want to play for a history of winning, or does he want to win now? Past performance is not a guarantee of future results.
2) @BestFansStLouis is one of the funniest twitters out there. Those are your Cardinals fans in all of their inclusive glory.

Despite the back in parking spaces downtown and the dopey decision to narrow one of the busiest intersections in town, Peoria is a decent town.
Way more entertaining than SPI or Champaign.

The Cards last won in 2011 and played in 2013. Hardly ancient history, and most clubs would kill for that. True that any star wants to compete this year, and other clubs might be more competitive right now. Just don’t let one good win blind you to 100 years of history and facts.

A new report published by MLB.com within the last hour says that the previous thought that Stanton had declared he’d only accept a trade to the Dodgers, Cubs, Astros, or Yankees is false.

Between 2004-13, the Cards played in 4 World Series and missed going to two others by 1 game.

I have only non-cynical thoughts on Peoria. As the city which holds the sad distinction of being the second-worst in the U.S. for black residents, it has a long, long way to go. But I don’t think it’s hopeless - churches and civic groups, as well as the city council could, if they wished to do so, turn the city around and prove a model for both the state and the country.
Also: beautiful and extensive parks, terrific restaurants (Biaggi’s, Jonah’s for example), a very decent university, wonderful and civic-minded residents.
And: great real estate in the northern suburbs/nearby districts (Dunlap) due to the withdrawal of Cat top management.
Many problems, much potential - a microcosm of our great state itself.

My wife and I are going to Christmas dinner tonight with several other couples and the rule was … go to the best restaurant in Springfield (one couple is hard to please Chicago couple that know what fine ding is!).
We have never eaten at LoukinensOn4th but we chose it based on Rich’s recommendation.
Any advice appreciated!
