Rauner complains it’s “hard to overcome” the “biased” Illinois media

Posted in:

* WJPF’s Tom Miller asked Gov. Rauner today how he fights back against the blame he gets

It’s such spin baloney. Tom, you understand the truth. You see both sides and you’re reasonable on these points. What’s frustrating to me and many people around the state is how biased a lot of the media is around Chicago, around the state. Biased for the status quo. Biased for, you know, against the changes that we’re recommending. The bias is, is hard to overcome.

The reality though is that truth comes out. People of Illinois are gonna see the truth. The reality is our system has been rigged. It’s broken, it’s dominated by a corrupt Chicago political machine that makes them and their money, their cronies a lot of money. And it costs the people of southern Illinois higher taxes and more job losses.

Hat tip: Gov. Rauner and IWT.

  1. Ahh, that’s the “cosmopolitan bias” that the Trump administration always talks about. Rauner won’t say Trump’s name, but he surely does use his playbook.

I don’t think Rauner really wants the truth to come out … unless it is his “version” of it.

  3. Um, Bruce, the truth has come out. You’re hearing the truth and you think it’s hell.

Yep. High Property Taxes in Chicago have totally destroyed jobs in Cairo and Metropolis … /s

… and Diana Rauner thought getting rid of Goldberg and hiring Rasmussen and Diana “as a white male” Rickert would overcome the truth that both Diana and Bruce Rauner wanted Illinois social services crippled, state unviversities passively closed, and hurting this state to end prevailing wage and collective bargaining.

    How’d that all work out?

Well, Bruce is still complaining, the IPI Diana Rauner wanted made things worse.

So… this is comical whining… is that at cocktail parties, the RaunerS still are taking the blame?

It may be right, exactly right. lol

  7. That’s what I was thinking when Rauner had all the editorial boards in his back pocket. No that the Rauner honeymoon with media is finally over, he complains. The whiner in chief

Comment by PublicServant Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 3:50 pm

  8. I taught that editorial boards around the state was all on his side and wrote only good things about him until last six months to year, so know the media is bad as some have wrote the truth now?

    Comment by 13th Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 3:51 pm

  9. Yeah, well, we’ve all got problems, governor. Some even more than you, if you can believe that.

Cowboy up, stop whining, be a mensch and do your job. You’re making a spectacle of yourself.

  10. Yay. Now we’re blaming the media. Governor “I’m not in charge/pass the buck”

Comment by Demoralized Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 3:51 pm

  11. Wow the Emperor has no clothes. If the Governor would pick a lane and stay on the road to a compromise it would be smooth and a good thing. But you can’t get anything accomplished if you’re stuck in the Roundabout and just keep blaming everyone else Please do not become the Donald Trump for Illinois

  12. Cue the tiny violins.

  13. Spin baloney! I love it.

If I recall correctly, during the campaign and the first 2 years of his term the media was rather friendly to him, often times letting him say whatever he wanted unchallenged, and generally giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Now that he actually has been sitting in the big chair and has a record, people in the media are trying to hold him accountable. And we have seen how the Guv responds to being held accountable.

He can always curl up with the tribune editorial pages to get him through the night.

  14. “If the Governor would pick a lane and stay on the road to a compromise it would be smooth and a good thing. ”

Since when is dealing with Madigan smooth?

The Governor did just that on the #1 issue affecting Illinois finances- pensions.

He supported the Democratic Senate bill instead of his own but he ran in the roadblock of the “reasonable, professional and cooperative ” Speaker of the House

  20. Ugh, if he’s not in charge and so put upon by the Press and Legislature, why not just leave?

Resign. Abdicate. Move out of the Governor’s Mansion and enjoy a cushy retirement. We’d all be better off for it. A win-win, if you will.

  24. Please, Bruce: Go Galt. We don’t deserve you. Leave the state and us to our fates. No one appreciates your genius, especially us parasites who exist only to sponge off great men like you. Ride off into that golden sunset with Paul Ryan. Roy Moore can teach you how to handle a horse.

  28. ==People of Illinois are gonna see the truth.==

I think the “truth” the people see is the complete failure of Rauner to govern and the harm done to his many hostages.

Comment by Wensicia Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 4:10 pm

  29. Every politician complains about their press. Rauner actually had it better than most until about the last year or so.

  30. Dude, your buddies own the media — recall the ed. board treatment you got in 2014. And you are still failing.

Comment by Henry Francis Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 4:20 pm

  33. == He supported the Democratic Senate bill … ==

Actually, Rauner only supported it AFTER Cullerton changed it to make the Gov happy

Comment by RNUG Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 4:25 pm

  34. ===He supported the Democratic Senate bill===

    Where’s Rauner’s 71 House votes.

I know, “I’m not in charge” Rauner is a hapless, feckless Governor.

    LOL

For the 7,215th time, when Rauner isn’t. Hapless and useless and gets that 71 to embarrass Madigan… let us all know.

Comment by Oswego Willy Friday, Dec 15, 17 @ 4:29 pm

  35. Definitely not in charge
