  2. An instance where it’s nothing until it shows itself to be something.

I’m at a point… not “what” is being held under seal, but the “why”.

  3. Welp, what was so damaging…

    “Why” ask for the seal?

  4. Dealing / unsealing put this on the radar.

  6. Sealing … although the auto-correct is somehow fitting …

  7. OW is exactly right. I know Kip and I’m dying to know what this lawsuit is really about and why it’s appropriate for it to be sealed.

Here’s the fake Rauner response, it popped in my fake email…

“This lawsuit is phony, nothing to it, nothing. They wanted it sealed, we didn’t know why, but it’s all phony, not true, we didn’t want something so phony to be read when the truth is it’s nothing”

Comment by Oswego Willy Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 12:24 pm

  9. Lol Willy. Not enough ums and uhs to be a real fake Rauner response. Also, drop those g’s, there’s nothin’ to it. Nothin’ at all.

  10. He’s not a billionaire.

  11. Something seems up here. I can’t see the other guy bringing in Dan Webb over chump change. It’s a civil matter so obviously nothing illegal. My money is immoral or unethical.

  12. Who his investors were besides pension funds…..I didn’t know he had this legal firepower against him.I can hardly wait.

  13. Can we expect someone to leak information in this sealed lawsuit like Rauner did with Jb?

Comment by Real Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 12:44 pm

  14. So Rauner can use sealed tapes in a campaign ad, but is trying to keep his own case sealed?

    Comment by A Jack Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 12:59 pm

  15. What good is a court seal? The material always seems to get released. Ask Blair Hull or Jack Ryan.

Comment by Practical Politics Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 12:59 pm

  16. I actually prefer Trump to Rauner at this point

    You’re right.

I guess now it would help Rauner if it gets dismissed because we still don’t know why it was sealed.

Dismissing it gives less credence and creates a better “why” reason…

Comment by Oswego Willy Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 1:45 pm

  18. Maybe the sealed Rauner court documents will be leaked to the Tribune. I’m certain the Trib would publish them just like the sealed/not played at trial Blagojevich tapes. {sigh}

  19. –Something seems up here. I can’t see the other guy bringing in Dan Webb over chump change.–

My thoughts, too. Webb is one of the highest-priced lawyers in the country.

  20. Was it sealed with duct tape?

  21. What does Rauner’s court costume look like?

    Comment by Flynn's Mom Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 2:01 pm

  22. Ok, Rauner once hired this attorney Dan Webb so idk why the plantiff would also hire him.

  24. Most of these claims have a two-year statute of limitation. He’s been Guv for three years, Could it be that claims in the suit will show he’s been actively involved in managing investments since taking office?

Comment by Roman Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 2:55 pm

  25. Maybe someone will file a pleading that attaches some of the earlier pleadings.

Comment by Annie Friday, Jan 19, 18 @ 3:30 pm

  26. Roman, doubtful. Rauner is an experienced private equity investor and would know that he opens himself to huge personal financial liability if he steps outside the role of “limited partner.” They’re called that for a reason.
I’m guessing that the dispute is either over capital calls, a particular company in the private equity fund’s portfolio, or maybe both.
