Ives releases new ad: “Lead the Charge”

Posted in:

* Press release…

Representative Jeanne Ives, the conservative reform Republican for Governor, has released a new campaign ad that will run statewide. The :30 second television spot, Lead the Charge, focuses on two of Governor Rauner’s many betrayals:

(1) Signing the sanctuary state legislation that 67 of 73 Republican legislators voted against, including Ives.

(2) Abdicating the leadership responsibility attendant to his office – “I’m not in charge” – and sitting by while 15 House Republicans not named Jeanne Ives bolted and supported the 32% permanent income tax increase, the largest structural tax increase in Illinois history.

Bruce Rauner surrendered. Jeanne Ives will fight back. Bruce Rauner isn’t in charge. Jeanne Ives will lead the charge.

* The ad

  1. You probably don’t come up with a new ad unless there’s more money coming from DU.

  2. Um, Rauner vetoed the tax increase

  3. Can anyone give an example of an issue/legislation in Springfield that Ives led? If she hasn’t been able to build consensus on a single bill why does she now think she can lead?

  4. That delivery is straight outta “The Room”.

  5. ===If she hasn’t been able to build consensus on a single bill why does she now think she can lead?===

    Being a governor automatically gives that person a seat to consensus if they want it.

    Legislators outside leadership need to find opportunities to do so, if they choose to do so.

    Different set of opportunities to measure.

  6. So is Ives criticizing the governor for not doing more to prolong the budget impasse? Maybe its just me but I’d like to see a governor who was actively trying to avoid budget impasses.

  7. Boy I wish there was a Republican gubernatorial debate
    Maybe in the next ad she can call him out on it.

  8. Wow. She “got your attention” by denigrating fellow citizens and thinks the ends justify the means. This campaign and all the people behind it are seriously warped.

  9. Hey Jeanne, the year 1984 wants its campaign logo back.

  10. Like everything else she says and does, this ad is directed at those voting in the Republican primary.

    That being the case, this ad is an “A”.

  11. A fundamental mistake in that ad: She doesn’t says “I’m running for governor.”

    Should never take that for granted.

  12. Pro tip: if you are going to spend a million bucks on advertising, spend more than $10 on production. That is all.

  13. It’s all I, I, I. Seems to be recurring theme. Horrible.

    “You can’t spell Ives or Illinois without I.”

  14. Wow, even when they try to soften her, she comes across as so unlikeable.

    Comment by Raising Kane Friday, Feb 9, 18 @ 4:06 pm

  15. She “spent the last 5 years battling Democrats.” Maybe Illinois needs a governor that isn’t going into battle with the other side. What we need is someone who is willing to sit down and work with the other side.

  16. now that she has our attention? so that’s what a hateful commercial was designed to do? and now her new tactic is militaristic. no thanks.

    Comment by Amalia Friday, Feb 9, 18 @ 4:16 pm

  17. She comes across as someone looking to start a war and not fix a problem,by finding the solution. Even when they try to soften her up she comes across as a person who loves confrontation.

  18. Didn’t General Lee say that as well?

    Comment by Arthur Andersen Friday, Feb 9, 18 @ 4:31 pm

  19. I think she has a good understanding of what she is doing, and will far exceed the number of votes I thought she would get.

    Comment by Anonymous Friday, Feb 9, 18 @ 4:39 pm

  20. Lead the charge, like that other West Point grad, Pickett.
