Kennedy ups the criticism on opponents: “Would you prefer a serial tax cheat like JB Pritzker?” Or “Dan Biss …epitomizes the brutality” of taking pension benefits away #twill #ILGov @KennedyforIL @JBPritzker @DanielBiss pic.twitter.com/hYrEvV8XWX

I don’t have anything else on that event.

…Adding… Press release…

More than 20 pastors from throughout Chicago endorsed Chris Kennedy for Governor today at Quinn Chapel AME Church.

“Illinois needs someone who will not bow to the party bosses. I’ve listened attentively to Chris Kennedy, and this man has made a believer out of me,” said Rev. Ira Acree of Greater St. John Bible Church on Chicago’s west side. “He’s not going to Springfield to be anybody’s pawn, but he’s going there to lead the system overhaul that’s needed in Illinois.”

The pastors cited Kennedy’s character and contrasted it with JB Pritzker, referencing his comments on FBI tapes and his ties to the political establishment in Springfield.

“Chris Kennedy is a man of passion and compassion. Chris Kennedy has a passion to serve and a compassionate heart for the people,” said Rev. Alvin Love Lilydale First Baptist Church in Chicago. “He is not afraid to make radical change. I stand with Chris Kennedy because I trust his character.”

During the endorsement Kennedy reinforced his commitment to justice.

“We believe in the separation of church and state,” Kennedy said. “But what we don’t believe in is the separation of morality and politics. What we don’t believe in is the separation of ethics and government.”

* Meanwhile, put another zero behind that and we’re talking…

  1. Pretty embarrassing to be forced to turn to your *nephew* for campaign cash.

  2. ===Pretty embarrassing to be forced===

Meh. Why? It’s his campaign fund.

    Hope is not a plan.

  5. That “apology tour” continued narrative at some point might become a dry well. Right now, it’s a sweet spot jab that still gets play, but as closing arguments begin in 10 days, there will be a need to move from “apology tour” to something like “too little too late, JB” and close the deal with AA leaders, but more importantly, voters.

    To the Cash…

Every day, “less” cash is needed for the finite amount of days left, but, as Rich said, hope isn’t a plan, so how are fumes and a “name” a GOTV strategy to early vote or Election Day vote pluses?

The idea of setting up that infrastructure has long, long, LONG past… $250K plus isn’t a GOTV band aid.

  6. It’s over for Kennedy. JB has this. It is going to be sweet to finally have a progressive democrat in office.

Comment by Illinois Resident Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 4:24 pm

  7. Illinois Resident - a person who couldn’t decide whether he was going to support Obama or Romney/Gingrich in early 2012 is not a progressive democrat, but a chameleon who says anything for power (as the Blago tapes confirmed).

  8. No point in mincing words to finish a gentlemanly second or third.

Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 6:04 pm

  9. Chris Kennedy will be appearing in the general election in November after all. In clips replayed on tv paid for by Rauner Incorporated. In attack advertisements. Nice.
people do not believe it anymore that Cannabis needs more study to see if it is a medicine when judge Francis young ruled in 1988 it was safe and effective medicine and should be rescheduled. It has been 30 years.

Comment by Al Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 6:30 pm

  10. lake county democrate - Look at the issues that he is promoting on his website; Pritzker is progressive. And it is also clear that after 8 years in office, Obama was not very progressive.

Comment by Illinois Resident Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 6:32 pm

  11. Al, right on. Kennedy not unconditionally advocating for cannabis legalization in the year 2018 is unacceptable. That is not progressive. That is out of touch.

Comment by Illinois Resident Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 6:35 pm

  12. I’ve been outta the game for a while but if your not feeling this Kennedy surge then your numb. He is picking up the vast majority of the undecided. Pritzker best shot will be GOTV but the captains ain’t what they used to be.

Comment by Bobio Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 7:29 pm

  13. Pardon my novice standing but I have a simple question . Which Dem candidate for governor has the best statistical chance to beat Rauner? That is my sole goal

Comment by Jaxon Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 7:50 pm

  14. Marryjeewanna legalization is progressive. Wow. Them libertarians get no credit. Next up for the progressive movement…religous freedom.

Comment by Blue dog dem Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 8:07 pm

  15. Blue dog dem - What do you have against cannabis legalization? Should we prohibit alcohol again and arrest all of the wine and beer drinkers?

Comment by Illinois Resident Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 9:00 pm

  16. Jaxon, Pritzker will beat Rauner and also has the best chance. His policies that he is advocating for are top notch and he has the money to get the message out.

Comment by Illinois Resident Tuesday, Feb 27, 18 @ 9:03 pm

  17. ==His policies that he is advocating for are top notch==

JB is actually pretty quiet on addressing our financial problems. Yep, they are still there. I am not a Raunerite. This man is not the agent of change.

Comment by Anonymous Wednesday, Feb 28, 18 @ 7:22 am

  18. According to polling from Biss’ campaign, Biss has the highest lead against Rauner. Which makes sense, because he is the greatest contrast with Rauner: one is middle-class, the other rich; one had government experience before seeking the governor’s office, the other had none; one is fairly progressive, the other quite regressive; one clearly cares about people, the other not so much.

So yeah, if you’re looking for the candidate with the best chance of beating Rauner, it’s Biss.

Comment by Techie Wednesday, Feb 28, 18 @ 7:44 am

  19. —So yeah, if you’re looking for the candidate with the best chance of beating Rauner, it’s Biss.—

Main problem though is when the GE happens and Rauner has 100’s of millions of dollars to work with and Biss has very little. That is where JB is the equalizer with funds to match against Rauner.

Comment by Illinois Resident Wednesday, Feb 28, 18 @ 11:04 am

  20. Illinois Resident the best candidate is chris candidate
