In January, JB Pritzker participated in the Chicago Sun-Times Democratic Gubernatorial Forum where his property tax scandals were a hot topic. Pritzker tried to cover up his own corruption by saying he “discovered the flaws” in the system. But how did he find those flaws? By having the toilets ripped out of his mansion and then using his insider connections to save $230,000 on his property tax bill.
JB Pritzker talks a big game when it comes to taxes. But he’s revealed himself as someone who has benefitted from corruption at the expense of hardworking families.

It seems as though conservatives would admire Pritzker’s ability to use the system to his financial advantage. They sure revere Trump for doing so.

At best an argument over how two rich guys wield their wealth and power to their advantage will be fought to a draw. What’s worse gaming the property tax system to get a break or using your clout to get your non-resident kid into a Chicago prep school?

Rauner benefited with multiple homeowner exemptions. Rauner had to admit the error and make restitution.
Can “someone” *cough* JB’s Crew *cough* figure out…
How could Rauner claim a homeowner exemption in Winnetka… and have a Daughter at Payton Prep?
Isn’t that homeowner exemption for your actual residence? Isn’t that suppose to be your primary residence to get that exemption?
How can you claim a homeowner exemption for your primary residence in Winnetka, and claim actual residency in Chicago to clout your denied, Winnetka-living daughter?
Rauner, I believe, also had his personal income taxes listed at the Winnetka address.
Did Rauner deny a worthy Chicago student, clout his denied Winnetka-living daughter into a Chicago school… and game the property tax system by listing his more expensive home in Winnetka as his primary residence… all at the same time?
When you donate $7 million at a clip to your campaign, you can’t spend 2-3 days, maybe $100 dollars to do this math?
Might make an interesting ad…
Rauner… clouting a denied suburban daughter into CPS, over a worthy child… while claiming tax residence in Winnetka…
You keep chasing the toilets, Pritzker Crew… no need to look at angles…

You have to read and understand complicated snippets of text, very quickly, to get to the point. All that really comes across is jb saying “flaws in the system.” I hope this an example of rauner and diana crafting their own messagin’.

What about Rauner getting his daughter into Payton Prep — thereby forcing a more deserving student else out.
One phone call was all it took.
That’s not corrupt? Isn’t similar to exploiting legal flaws in the tax code?

Sometimes it’s just hard to believe that the people with the most money still play these penny ante games. Both of them could afford to play by the rules but no, they have to find ways to bend the rules for themselves. Neither one is morally fit to be governor, except of course here in Illinois.

waste of time. that said, this election is not one vs. 2. it is one on one. and the issue itself may resonate more. but this commercial does not do it.

Willy thinks private schools have shut off volume of students. Just like any school, public or private, kids enroll and kids transfer. My guess is Rauner’s kid getting into Peyton Prep did not cost any worthy kid a place at the table. I would bet a lot of $ in LV on it.

Going to hear a lot about Pritzker and Rauner’s rich dude problems between now and November.
But I think that as the incumbent, Rauner’s only chance to seal the deal is to come up with a compelling spin on his “accomplishments” that he can sell to persuadables.
Off the top of my head, I can’t think of an incumbent executive whoever won re-election based on a campaign of “I haven’t accomplished anything, but the other guy is worse.”

So JB isn’t actually corrupt.
He’s just “benefited” from corruption?
Who amongst us hasn’t benefitted from corruption at some point of our lives? Whether it’s benefitting from artificially low income taxes (enacted by corrupt politicians for corrupt purposes, including shorting the pension funds). Or heck, how about those who have made millions off those corrupt pension funds, right Guvna?

Cheating because you’re cheap always resonates with folks who are just trying to play by the rules and get by. It’s modestly effective, but it drags too much. Walking door to door, this subject came up a lot. It’s symbolic of what a lot of lower/middle income folks think about wealthy people.

There are finite seats. How do i know this? I know this because when students are denied, it’s not because schools (public or private) have spare seats open.

This was an 8th Grade student applying, then denied, then being clouded in… do you know how this went down? The inspector general did a whole segment on Chicago Tonight if you’d like to get up to speed.

No need to guess. Again, the inspector general made quite clear the timeline and what were the avenues. No guessing.

Explain how letters of denial exist, with second choices after Payton Prep exist?
Can’t have letters of denial if seats are infinite.
A worthy child was denied. That’s how clout works, in this case, as seats are finite. Otherwise, Rauner’s own daughter wouldn’t have been denied.

FYI- (because you do not seem to know) Payton Prep is a public charter school (non-boundaried public school) and is not a private school.
They have a waiting list to get in usually. Somebody got bumped.

Politics, like sports, is about match-ups. Bruce “I clouted my daughter into Payton Prep and claimed double homeowners exemptions” Rauner is not well suited to prosecute this attack. And even if he was, this is really, really lame.
Also, I think the voters would really appreciate a break on both sides at this point. Maybe that’s why this is such a half-hearted effort.

It’s not cheating if it can be done by anyone. I might do this myself if my annoying neighbor moves out. Who hasn’t had a bad neighbor and wished they had bought the house to keep a worse person from moving in. I probably would have done this the last time the house was for sale if I had know I could avoid property taxes by such an easy to undo maneuver.
Honestly, It would be nice to have a Governor as sharp as Pritzker for a change.

Voters know that these 2 rich guys can’t relate to regular Joes. It’s about what have you done, and what will you do for the regular working stiff. Rauners actions speak for themselves. He is toast.

I guess if all this corruption is about, we should expect indictments. If not it is just character assassination. Please Governor, tell us how you are going to change your management style because your party is the clear minority in this state. Leave the corruption investigations to the Feds. They do a pretty good job in this state.
