  3. Congratulations to all the White Sox fans that got to go to opening day on the snow, go to extra innings and lose. Cubs up next and still artic weather. Start the season May 15 end on Labor Day. And no one really cares about St Louis they can play in the heat. (Snark)

  4. Sox moved their game Monday to a 1pm start, going at the same time the Cubs open st Wrigley.

It looks so lousy I might skip it… it’s that bad.

  5. I was at lunch with a lawyer who works with a lot of high-net worth people. This lawyer reported that they are hearing from a lot of clients who, after Pritzker won the primary, are interested in changing their residency to another state, fearful of further income tax hikes.

  6. It was a great hockey game the other night, when Keith blasted in the game-winning goal for the Hawks against the Blues, with 8 seconds left in the game.

It was not a great game when the Sox gave up the lead in the ninth and lost.

They should call JB’s tax people.

  12. 1) most other states have progressive tax systems
    2) rich people still live in those other states
    3) those states haven’t failed and most are doing better than IL.

  13. Just Me, if Rauner is reelected MJM is not going anywhere for four years. Yet another reason to vote for JB.

  14. I think the Brewers were pulling on grandpa’s old recipe before the Cubs game last night. They sure played like it.

    – Braun’s wackadoo baserunning.

    – Baez scored from first and Lester was safe at first on a weak dribbler up the middle that barely made the outfield grass. It was a routine double-play ball.

    – Down 8-0 in the ninth, Counsell put his All-Star closer on the mound, who blew out a hamstring and is out for at least six weeks.

Might want to keep the jug corked until after the game.

  15. Studies (which I, regretfully, do not have on hand to quote) shows that increasing income taxes tends to increase income tax revenue while decreasing the rich headcount; put another way, the negative tax effects of the fleeing rich are more than made up for by the increased revenue generated from those rich that remain. The study I reference was conducted after a drastic increase in the top tax bracket in New Jersey, which already had a progressive income tax model; there may be more growing pains for Illinois, as it would be moving from a flat to a stepped model.

  16. I’m not rich but I just did my taxes and I paid $17,000 in state income taxes. And $14,000 in Re taxes in 2017.

  18. Ron, you know it’s the middle class that always does the heavy lifting. Especially in a progressive state like Illinois

  19. People are fleeing NY and NJ. I talked to a lawyer recently whose entire practice has become helping people change domicile from NY/NJ. Usually to FL because of no income tax or estate tax.

  20. I miss Lane Evans.
