Rauner also took time to address Ives’ claim that Rauner signed legislation to make Illinois a “sanctuary state.” He said law enforcement in fact asked him last summer to sign the Trust Act, which stops police from arresting residents based solely on their immigration status, because they feared Democrats would pass something more restrictive in its place.
The attack was a centerpiece of Ives’ campaign for governor, which came within three percentage points of defeating the better-funded and incumbent Rauner.
“I am passionately against sanctuary states and against illegal immigration,” he said Wednesday.

Thumbs Down: To Gov. Bruce Rauner and state Rep. Jeanne Ives for not contacting each other since Election Day.
It’s been more than three weeks since the two battled it out on the ballot for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. The two still haven’t talked. Frankly, the person who loses usually calls to concede the race. It seems clear Ives isn’t interested in doing that. Rauner also hasn’t shown any desire to mend fences.
No one expects these two to be buddies. But even Little League players shake hands and say “good game” after the innings have all been played. The two primary opponents need to talk and put this in the past.

Ives has a long history of truth distorting and contempt for those she disagrees with.
Her colleagues call her abrasive and stubborn.
She’s only passed five inconsequential bills in the General Assembly.
She ran one of the most negative campaigns in Illinois history
Now she demands the Republican Party cater to her whims.
We are better than this.
There is no “paid for” disclosure on the site that I could find, but whoever is running it says: “This site is dedicated to exposing her lies till she leaves office.”

Rauner, in an interview I had with him today on another subject, confirmed that he and Ives did indeed have a brief meeting yesterday.
“We spoke last night. I saw her at (Obed & Isaac’s Microbrewery),” Rauner told me. “I went over to shake hands, and we promised to get together soon.”

She was there for dinner with representatives from the Greater O’Hare Association and Tom Morrison.
Rauner walked through the restaurant.
There was a perfunctory greeting, and no further discussion. No such plans were made or suggested

While I understand what they’re trying to say, it must be awfully comfortable to think of politics as only a game. But it’s real and important. If you want to take Ives’ perspective (I know you don’t), their disagreement is over literal matters of life and death.

There’s nothing wrong with a Rauner alternative, but does it have to be one that is as bigoted as Jeanne Ives? Every argument she makes is weakened with that ad.
Also, as SJ-R noted, the loser usually concedes. It was on her.

Unity will not give Rauner victory. And a Rauner victory will not help Republicans. The Republican social conservatives are anchored in the past. And that past is fading with each obituary and being replaced with each birth.

To the post. It’s all about forming a campaign against Donald Trumps favorite Governor. Rauner backed himself into a corner coming into office thinking his money would get him everything he wanted. Rauner has zero accomplishments in 4 years and I would not call him a failure.. A failure is only a term that should be used for someone that wanted to do good. Doing good was never any of Rauner’s intentions when assuming office.

Jeanne, it is always best to cave.
Look at how things turned out for Bill Brady, against whom Rauner spent millions in the GOP primary, blistering his reputation and labeled him a Careerfella.
Plus, you must acknowledge that you lie, too.
But it is much more fun to see you pout and refuse to eat your vegetables.

“Bruce Rauner failed” oughta do it. Trump’s midterm helps with anti-“GOP” message, as all POTUS know… the losses at the midterm can occur.
Ives, McSweeney, they understood that, pointing out Rauner isn’t Trump, and making Rauner a friend of the Left… while wanting Labor destroyed.

As an Ives supporter, I can assure you that nothing that Rauner says or tweets will flip my perception of Ives. My guess is that if he tries to put the blame on Ives, it’ll only push her supporters further away from him (if that’s even possible). Remember, Rauner is responsible for the division in the party, not Ives.

At this point not talking to Rauner is what’s keeping Ives relevant. What does she possibly gain by having a discussion? She can continue to maintain that she hasn’t compromised her principles and live to fight another day. Who knows, we might see her run for something down the road. Rauner will likely be nothing more than a footnote in history come November.

I googled Lying Ives and all I got were Rauner’s lies. Except for the Lying Ives website.
The Lying Ives website that slams her on social issues looks like a Raunerite place. Uber-left North Shore Limousine Liberals (h/t as always OW). Raunerite contempt for social conservatives. Hmmm…
