* I’m guessing you won’t find a weapon like this in legal marijuana shops in Colorado, California, etc…

* And then there’s the state and local revenues…

If it was legal and using previous proposals , not counting the added value of jobs, tourism, etc.. that would be roughly 1.2M in excise tax and 1M in State and Local Sales Taxes. https://t.co/Pf0cpxJvEo #Twill

    Not in my experience.

  2. My son delivers medicinal marijuana in CA. When the business owner travels with large amounts of cash and weed there is heavily armed security present.

  3. ===heavily armed security===

    Trained, licensed and bonded. Big dif.

  4. ===My son delivers medicinal marijuana===

    One of the more memorable sights in Oakland was a big billboard advertising a marijuana home delivery service. BART train was moving too fast to get a pic, though.

  5. Sir, when both items involve marijuana, I believe the proper title is “Quick RIPS”.

  6. Arsenal, you may be correct, but I’m not up on the lingo.

  7. So, the weed’s illegal, but the gun’s not?

  8. Michigan will legalize the devil’s lettuce this November and if the Rauners have to move back to one of their 9 other houses IL will likely follow suit next spring. The big questions now are what type of industry does IL create with legalization? High barriers to entry for only the wealthy and connected like they did with the MCPP or will they try to foster a cottage industry like we see with all of the micro breweries popping up across IL? Will there be a restorative justice component carving out preferential treatment for communities that were disproportionately harmed by the War on Drugs? IL would be wise to adopt the different licensing permits that CA has with cultivation licenses based on scale and indoor/outdoor/hybrid grows as well as the social equity components that MA just announced yesterday.

  9. Why is this even a debate anymore? Cause there are too many people getting paid to make sure status quo doesn’t change. Cops, lawyers, prison staff, judges. We wouldn’t need half of them if drug war declared over.

  10. well its illegal to have the gun with the gonja, even if it is a .22

  11. On the other hand, not long ago a dude (allegedly) carrying cash from a video poker outfit wrecked his car on I-74 and a suitcase of dough spilled on the Interstate. (Watching Troopers try to sweep up spilled cash on wet pavement with a pushbroom was kinda funny but I digress.) I would think the legal MJ biz would need some level of security between armored cars and the Bro carrying a suitcase of cash in his Nissan.

  12. Legal Pot always has been, and will continue to be a bad idea. It leads to poor health outcomes, no different than cigarettes.

    Comment by Saluki Wednesday, Jun 27, 18 @ 7:36 pm

  13. - no different than cigarettes. -

    Or booze, or pizza, all of which are legal.

  14. Actually, you’ll find guns like that in all kids of places, from a union pipefitter’s house to a minister’s home, to yes, someone selling legal adult refreshments. That’s because a semi-auto AR is legal in most parts of the country.

    Comment by m Wednesday, Jun 27, 18 @ 8:05 pm

  15. I don’t think that is an AR-15. I believe it is a semi-automatic magazine fed shotgun.

    Possibly 10 round magazines, 5 rounds probably more likely.

  16. Saluki - 64% of the county thinks otherwise. You are in a shrinking minority.

  17. Freezeup-Yes, that is a Rock Island Armory VR-60, 12 gauge shotgun. 5 rd magazine. Made here in Illinois.

  18. Lol, can someone fact-check the math on those tax numbers?

    I did. Those two stories are unrelated.

  20. Thanks Birdseed - that’s a bit misleading then, or at least I was mislead, but maybe it’s due to a lack of sleep on my end. But thanks for pointing that out.
