The context was his admission that JB Pritzker is outspending him three-to-one on TV ads, but that it won’t do Pritzker much good because he’s not an attractive candidate. “Once you’ve spent that for saturation, the rest of it’s wasted,” Rauner told the gathered Republicans. “We just gotta make sure we’ve got enough to get our message out.”

Some other GOP statesman is already using “pig” in his schtick these days. Rauner likes to steer clear of him.
I wonder if “barrow” was subbed at the last second and Rauner stumbled on it because he didn’t know what it was when he read it, so he paused and said “barrel.”
Probably thought it was a typo. With good reason.

Rauner: That’s just the attitude we don’t need. Sure, the Dems have us on the ropes. Sure, they’re terrific organizers. They’ve got the best field organizers that money can buy. Heck, every crew they’re sending out in the precincts has their own personal masseuse, not masseur, masseuse.
But it doesn’t matter.
Do you know that every Dem candidate has an electrocardiogram, blood tests every 48 hours to see if there’s any change in their physical condition? Do you know that they use the most sophisticated GOTV methods from Nebraska, New Mexico, West Virginia, and the newest GOTV power Tennessee?
But it doesn’t matter. It just doesn’t matter.

Rauner: And even, and even if we win, if we win, HAH… Even if we win… Even if we get every voter to vote our way and GOTV so far over our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days… Even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the field. Even if every man, woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn’t matter, because all the really smart organizers would still go and work with Pritzker in the end, cause he’s got all the money…
It just doesn’t matter if we win or we lose. IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER

Rich, thanks for the information in the post when I first saw that picture I thought he was introducing his “Auctioneer” look or maybe “Insurance Salesman” look. Would explain the demeanor of the other folks.

The use of “barrow” (castrated pig) by a failed governor who loudly proclaims he’s not in charge is amusing, if not symbolic of his incompetent term.

Rauner would know about saturation and wasted money. After all the millions he spent the ILGOP broke from him to pass revenue, budgets and the state worker back pay bill. Yet the dude is still spending millions on the ILGOP.

My guess is he visited the hog tent yesterday, learned a new word and wanted to show off his new word.
Kinda like how Bill Brady kept calling Rauner “benevolent” on the Madonia show this morning. Over and over. Benevolent this and so benevolent that.
I’m not sure leader Brady fully comprehends the meaning of that word.

LOL, get the gop and rauner’s message out? Keep dissing Illinois, destroying unions, running our debt up more, fighting with the legislature instead of working with them? Wheres your record rauner? I will tell you, its in the toilet. You have accomplished nothing in almost 4 years except run up debt and our debt payments. Iwonder who is making money off of Illinois debt?
