* We all know by now that JB Pritzker has refused to release any details whatsoever about his graduated income tax idea. Reporters have asked him over and over to say what his rates would be, or at what income level would require people to pay more than they are now.
It turns out, though, that Pritzker promised last year to issue his “full” tax plan “later in the Fall” when he was asked what his rates would be and how he would implement it during a question and answer session with voters.
From an August 14th, 2017 appearance in Montgomery, Illinois…

That does change my opinion. If he promised to release details, then he needs to release details, or at least come up with a plausible explanation for why he has changed course.

I don’t think you can make a decent spot using the audio, given the quality. Just write your own script, and cite the appearance.

He will not release them. In honesty, with all his new spending plans, on new programs, he is going to have to raise income taxes right away, to support a bigger budget. A progressive tax is years away and if ever passed, will tax the middle class at a higher rate, then he wants to admit. What the public does not know about his new rates, will not hurt him, so he thinks.

JB can’t release his plan for a couple of reasons. One, he knows he cannot raise the amount he thinks Illinois needs by just taxing the 1%ers as he claims and therefor the middle class will also get hit. Secondly, he doesn’t actually have a plan. The man hasn’t worked an honest day in his life. Why start now?

A totally legitimate hit on JB. It’s one of the centerpieces of his campaign and he has offered next to zero details.
Rolling back the income tax is every bit as central to Rauner’s campaign and he has offered next to zero details on what he’d cut to pay for it and has actually talked about spending more (on education and capital.)
But the political press has spent far, far less time holding Rauner’s feet to the fire on this. Yet he complains constantly about media coverage.

To the Post,
Here’s what’s real.
It’ll be 2020 at the earliest the progressive income tax can even be in play.
Further, Pritzker boxing himself in with exacting policies is a big policy and political mistake. Amateur move. Pandering.
With $10 billion in new spending, and this amateur move with no tax plan after promising a plan… Pritzker’s Crew better run out the clock because what is the end here is these gaping policy lapses make Pritzker look ill-prepared to be governor of the 6th largest state in America.
Listen to Edgar, but by doing so, Pritzker will say less, and not keep a promise on policy… 13 months and counting.
Not great.

Pritzker might just as well said, “Trust me.” And yet he is more than willing to talk about all the new spending he wants to implement. Much of that is targeted to schools, read teachers unions. But we don’t have a school funding problem so much as a school spending issue. Districts that haven’t spent wisely over the decades (Chicago) and a state that turns every crackpot education idea into a mandate that costs money. Even if you win the election you lose because you have to fix Illinois with the main problem, Madigan, still in office. Good Luck JB, you’ll need it.

Yet no one has really questioned his honesty during this campaign. And everyone cheers when the hypocrite labels his chief opponent a liar.
During the first debate, didn’t he claim that he resumed construction at the infamous toilet mansion? I asked this toilet issue question before and I ask it again, has this reduction lasted 3 years or more, or was it for a single year? How much of a savings actually has occurred here? And were union plumbers used?
That Democratic Nominee for Governor is some kind of reformer.

This is a question I wish would be asked more. A change to a progressive tax would take a change to the State Constitution, meaning the absolute quickest it could take affect would be towards the end of the next term. So, in the years prior to that, how exactly is he planning to pay for all of the new spending he’s proposed?

“hasn’t worked an honest day in his life.” Ok he sure doesn’t have the look of someone who has worked 10 hour days walking beans, or throwing hay bails…Maybe a fair question for him would be what was the hardest workday he ever had? He will answer that question long before he tells you his taxing plan.

Gee Louis, you have a lot of questions, but really, there is no entitlement for others to do your research.
Maybe you can find a competent lawyer who knows how to do some basic access of public databases to help you out.

It’s a race to the bottom with these candidates. Rauner hasn’t earned a second term. I don’t understand why everyone is so fired about about JB though. An unproven entity who’s actions are inconsistent with his statements. Where have I seen this play before?

And that Republican Governor of yours is some kind of Governor. We know for certain that Rauner can’t govern. He’s proved it for four years. You Raunerites can’t provide any reasons to vote for him other than he’s just a poor victim.

He firmly believes “folks like Governor Rauner and him” should pay more taxes. He has left it at that every chance he gets.

I’ll admit I’m not crazy wild about JB, but I’m voting for him because the state cannot afford another four years of “not in charge,” “done my darnest,” “I’ll veto a bill even though I agree with 90% of it,” costume-wearin, g-droppin Bruce.
