Amoah appears in second Rauner video

Posted in:

* Press release…

Today, the Rauner campaign is launching the latest “Back Bruce” testimonial video featuring Kwasi Amoah.

In the video, Kwasi reflects on why he thinks Governor Rauner is the best choice for governor. He knows that Governor Rauner is standing up for taxpayers, fighting to reduce taxes, and working to grow the Illinois economy to create a better future for the state.

Kwasi Amoah, you may recall, appears in another Rauner digital ad saying he was “offended” by what JB Pritzker said on those FBI surveillance tapes.

* The ad

* Script…

My name is Kwasi Amoah. I’m from Romeoville, Illinois. I am a safety professional, and I support Governor Rauner. Governor Rauner knows what Illinois needs. People who work in this state work so hard, and to be punished for working so hard, for taking money out of their pockets doesn’t make any sense. People are leaving this state in droves. I think a better future for Illinois is we’ve got to fix the deficit. We’ve got to get a better budget. We’ve got to stop spending. We can’t have social services if we don’t have revenue, if we are a broke state. Governor Rauner is the right choice for the next for years.

  1. The only reason this ad exists is because Kwasi sounds like Kwame and this guy looks a little like Kwame Raoul.

  3. “We can’t have social services if we can’t have revenue.”

    Like when Rauner decimated them while holding the state hostage for his anti-union demands. Who’s going to believe this guy? Plenty of people want adequate social services funding without scalping unions to get it, especially African-American voters. It’s just someone else mouthing Rauner’s disastrous talking points.

  4. I enjoyed the “leaving this state in droves” part where they are traveling straight toward downtown Chicago

  5. In the ad, pretty much everything he described that has to improve for Illinois to get back on the right track took a turn for the worse after Rauner became Governor. Has Rauner said anything during the campaign to lead us to believe that he can change things for the better if he is given a 2nd term?

  6. –I think a better future for Illinois is we’ve got to fix the deficit. –

    Yeah, well, maybe the crazy arsonist ain’t the guy for fire chief.

    Does the word “billions” just confuse some people? Piling on $10 billion in unpaid bills for daily operating costs in just 2.5 years — on purpose — doesn’t register with some?

  7. >I think a better future for Illinois is we’ve got to fix the deficit. We’ve got to get a better budget.

    Strongly agree on that.

    >Governor Rauner is the right choice

    I have been unable to observe any behaviors on Rauner’s part that that would convince me of that.

  8. The last line is totally contrary to the previous three lines.

  9. One billion dollars in interest for not paying bills, because Illinois went without a budget for two years, isn’t a fiscally conservative governor looking to save Illinois.

    Nope.

  10. The clips here — flag, mural, handshake, El Camino…. are weirdly random. BTIA(TM) really phonin’ it in.

    But I dig that El Camino. Long-haired country boy’s dream ride.

  11. This guy must be a freemason. Making a ad with lies acting like he really believes in Rauner.

  12. “People are leaving this state in droves.”

    But don’t blame Rauner, he’s not responsible for anything.

    Too bad Kass, Hurricane the Illinois Exodus pusher, the IPI and their political kin don’t leave higher-income Illinois for some lower-income paradise. How horribly they are suffering here, with the 4.95% state income tax rate and the regressive SALT.

    Indiana Policy Institute has a nice ring to it. They’d get to keep their IPI acronym.

  13. This ad is for the poorly informed voter from the poorly informed and often duplicitous Governor.

    Rauner’s own directors were unable to identify major savings. Maybe Bruce forgot that.

  14. Even if you agree with Rauners words, you have to admit he has failed. If you agree that we need to fix the deficit and get a better budget, you can not look at what Rauner has done in his first term and think that he can or will do anything in a second term to achieve those goals. Personally, I havent believed anything he has said since he was running the first time.

  15. I’m not sure this ad is going to connect with its target audience. Maybe because I’m not sure who the target audience is.

  17. This piece just oozes sincerity.

    Why are his eyes darting all over the place (are there cue cards in 5 different spots)?

    And whose house is he in? Because the picture of the happy couple over his right shoulder sure ain’t him.

  18. Was Corey Brooks not available, or have too many people caught wise to him?

    Comment by Roadrager Thursday, Oct 25, 18 @ 11:58 am

  19. ==we’ve got to fix the deficit==

    He knows he’s supporting a guy who doubled the bill backlog doesn’t he?
