On the bright side, he’s still rich

* From last night…

Well, at least the team the governor partially owns won the World Series. So he has that going for him

Also, the Steelers won yesterday and the Bulls won Saturday.

  1. And the half us are worse off after Rauner. Would be nice if he lost every bit of that money.

  2. ===On the bright side, he’s still rich===

If you say so. I’ll always be richer than he could ever fathom.

  3. Yep. Rauner. Wrong Sox.

  4. I hear he’s investing in a soccer franchise in Italy after November 6!!!🇭🇺

  5. Hey, under Rauner’s Governorship the Cubs won the World Series. That puts him in company with only one other Governor - Charles Deneen, who served from 1905-1913.

  6. Illinois was a toy, not unlike the Red Sox, Steelers, or Bulls…

… but this toy, our state…our home, with Rauner’s phony bluster, having homes in other states, other places… the goal was to break Illinois, but keep the brand of Bruce and Diana Rauner intact.

The “Tom and Daisy Buchanan” here will be run out of the governor’s mansion, they will retreat back into their money… and enjoy other World Series, Super Bowls, NBA Finals… and won’t think twice how they ruined… Illinois.

That’s if they lose… let’s see how the voters decide.

  7. Yay Red Sox. Mrs RNUG is happy.

Now I got to get her some 2018 World Series Champion stuff. Need to walk the internet since it is scarce in central Illinois.

Comment by RNUG Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 10:21 am

  8. Red Sox win the World Series.
Steelers get a pretty big divisional win on Sunday.
Bulls are 2-4. GarPax is still calling the shots. And Hoiberg is still on the sideline.

Once again, Rauner doing more to help out other states than the State of Illinois. /s mostly.

  9. Steve Pearce has a never-ending heaping bowl of free clam chowder all over New England for the rest of his days.

I’m not a big fan of this era of baseball — all strikeouts, all the time. But when a geezer schmuck among superstars becomes a hero, it embiggens my spirit in a profoundly cromulent way.

Hey Don Cooper — you think now that Sales kid, the one you didn’t trust, might stick in The Show?

  10. He’s still rich and Illinois is still broke.

    Comment by 47th Ward Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 10:30 am

  11. Come to think of it, it’s a little surprising that for all their billions, none of the Pritzkers have bought a professional sports franchise.

They may however have minority interests like Rauner does in the aforementioned teams, but they had enough to buy the whole enchilada.

If JB had bought the Cubs when they were up for sale, he would have at least doubled his investment in the past 10 years.

Comment by Grand Avenue Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 10:33 am

  12. Don’t forget the NASCAR Roush Fenway Racing team, owned by Fenway Sports Group.

  13. The state constitution should specify that the governor is required to be a Bears fan.

  14. “If JB had bought the Cubs when they were up for sale, he would have at least doubled his investment in the past 10 years.”

That would be a rounding error on his net worth.

  15. But not as rich as his opponent. Which clearly bothers him and may explain why he hasn’t put any more of his own money into his committee since 2016; he knows he can’t afford outbid on this one.

No. Ricketts bought the Cubs and Wrigley in 2006 for $900 million. Forbes has JB at $3.5 billion.

  17. Rauner gets a Red Sox World Series pin for his leather vest and we got billions in debt.

Comment by DeseDemDose Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 11:13 am

  18. Rauner’s goal was to break Illinois?

Illinois has been broken for decades and the single most powerful politician during those decades is Mike Madigan- who brags about not being a change person.

If JB wins, raises taxes and offers zero reforms like he has promised, why will Illinois prosper?

It won’t but the unions and trial lawyers will, and that is all that matters to Mike Madigan.

Comment by Lucky Pierre Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 11:16 am

  19. ==Well, at least the team the governor partially owns won the World Series. So he has that going for him==

Yah, but the team he wholly owns (ILGOP) has not been that successful. And he invested a lot more in that than his holdings in the other teams.

    Nope. Good try. No.

“I’m frustrated too but taking steps to reform Illinois is more important than a short term budget stalemate.”

I will break you, or break this state.

Rauner even apologized for his tact.

    What else ya got?

    A whole General Assembly.

The Raunerites, with Drury, Franks, and Dunkin… purposely hurt Illinois… for Bruce Rauner.

  26. I grew up in Pittsburgh and have been a fan since 1970 when the Steelers won the coin flip over the Bears that allowed them to draft Terry Bradshaw. It pains me every time I’m reminded that Rauner is a part owner.

(OT) I’m also in a bit of shock still. My grandparents lived about a mile and a half from Tree of Life and I visited there several times growing up.

    Comment by G'Kar Monday, Oct 29, 18 @ 2:48 pm

  27. @Real says that “half of us are worse off” because of Rauner. We should all be worse off in some way. Everyone has to share some pain in order to get out of the financial fiasco that the previous administrations have created. The problem is that we, the voters, have an attitude that only others should have to give up something to solve the crisis. So, the politicians who rely on the votes of the voters to keep them in their sweet job, promise pain for someone else, but not us, and then can’t even balance a budget. It’s our (voter’s) fault that this mess continues unabated.
