*** UPDATED x1 - All-clear given *** Statehouse evacuated

* Rep. Art Turner just gave notice to the House chambers to evacuate the third and fourth floors of the Statehouse “immediately.” Senators were also told to leave. Stay tuned.

Secretary of State's spokesman Dave Druker says a bomb threat was called into a legislative office for the fourth floor of the Capitol. Authorities are searching the fourth floor. House and Senate, with chambers on third floor, have recessed and evacuated.

…Adding… The SoS is clarifying that they’re not totally sure a legislative office reported the threat.

*** UPDATE *** An “all clear” has been given for the entire building. The SoS office says the threat was called into the tourism office on the first floor about a bomb on the 4th floor.

  4. One time there was a fire and they evacuated. And another time there was a white powdery substance found. I can’t recall another bomb threat at the moment.

  5. Fire? I was counting the first as the lady throwing salt around to “cleanse” the place, then a few months back they found a baggie of white powder, and now this. I missed the fire one.

  14. I didn’t know about the bomb threat at the Capitol until I was on my afternoon break at another building in the Capitol Complex. Shouldn’t SOS Police inform all state employees (either complex only or all Springfield-based employees) about the threat and that they don’t have to worry about evacuating if they’re in other buildings, but to avoid the Capitol until all-clear is given?
