Krupa says FBI agent reached out to him about petition challenges

Posted in:

* ABC 7

[13th Ward candidate David Krupa] said he got a surprise call from an FBI agent today.

“An FBI investigator did reach out to me asked me, kinda what happened and allowed me to explain what we believe to be going on,” Krupa said.

What Krupa believes is going on is a case of election fraud by the campaign of incumbent alderman Marty Quinn. 2,600 people signed petitions to revoke nominating signatures for Krupa that they never gave him in the first place.

“I am encouraged, I think that, knowing that the FBI reached out to me means that somebody is listening and somebody is taking this matter seriously, which it needs to be taken seriously,” Krupa said.

  1. So we have an incumbent tied to Madigan and the problems of his brother harassing a staffer that now has the G looking at him for potential election fraud vs a dude that has anger issues and is an abuser of women. Did I miss anything? Nice election we got going there. Great choices.

  2. Meh. Can’t blame them for checking out the allegations, but I find it hard to believe that Quinn’s people would be that stupid.

Either way it looks like Krupa is well on his way to a career as a professional victim. Everyone who went to a well-connected Catholic school knew “that guy” in every class so you knew something bad from his Fenwick days would pop up. I just didn’t expect it to be an order of protection before he turned 19.

  3. So Quinn’s people have a list of registered voters, and they knock on doors and say, “Did you sign a petition for Krupa. He mistreats women. Would you like to revoke your petition? Here is a form” The form says Revoke in bold twice, once in the heading. It’s up to that registered voter to say, “I never signed a petition for Krupa.” It’s not up to Quinn’s people. They don’t have a list of people who signed Krupa’s petition, only Krupa has that.
So I don’t see how anyone other than that registered voter commited election fraud. Unless Quinn’s organization just opened a phone book and forged the names. Is that what the FBI thinks?

  4. This kid is gonna make sooooo much money. Nice job at the IPI or IL Fam Institute, guest columns in Dan Proft papers and various conservative websites, who knows - maybe even a fox news appearance or two.

  5. And Krupa believes the caller was an FBI agent because he said so. Oldest trick in the book………

Correct. I would also add that Krupa could have not turned in all his petitions and with all of the mayoral people, there could have also been people confused about whose petition they signed.

The FBI thing is also bizarre, because there is zero independent confirmation. It’s just Krupa, a known and proven liar and domestic abuser, spouting off.

Lastly, this whole brouhaha shows that organization of the Speaker is far too calcified. You need a communications strategy that speaks for the organization and fights back without layers of internal bureaucracy or the void of silence, which has been filled at every turn by Krupa and his lawyer Michael Dorf, who the media conviently does not press for an explanation on when he publicly encouraged a different kind of fraud. Why is Michael Dorf publicly saying to commit other fraud? Is this his counsel to Krupa?

  8. Anyone know where federal jurisdiction would come from?

  9. “And Krupa believes the caller was an FBI agent because he said so.”

You probably don’t believe the wallet inspector will bring his billfold back neither.

  11. I wouldn’t put it past him if he fabricated this call just for some free media attention. It’s a great schtick since the FBI never reveals anything.

  12. –“An FBI investigator did reach out to me asked me, kinda what happened…–

Because that’s what the FBI does, they “reach out and ask, kinda what happened, about something-something.”

Spoken like a true tronc/Kass/Katrina/trumpster. I’m amazed for the moment that they pretend that the FBI is legit.

For crying out loud, you dingbats, get some game. You ain’t getting Fox News money for your self-inflicted humiliation.

  13. There is no way this actually happened.

This is Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, but at a local level. Google their names if you need to know who they are.

  14. It would be the first time the FBI kinda reached out to someone.

  15. Did the FBI agent tell Krupa it was a casual conversation and he doesn’t have to have legal counsel present? lol

  16. Yeah, I doubt it.

  17. I rescind my comment about this being fabricated, since according to multiple news outlets it is for real. (However, I stand by my suggestion that — if it were fabricated — it would be smart.)

  19. Why would the FBI visit Krupa anyway. What would he know about the “crimes”?
Are we going to see 2500 people in the 13th ward go to prison?

  20. “It would be the first time the FBI kinda reached out to someone.”

I had a Postal Inspector “reach out” to me and what I gave him ended up indictment.

  21. With all this attention and media coverage I feel the feds were somewhat forced to act like they care about this situation…. seems pretty weird that they would just call Krupa and no one else. This isn’t typically how the feds work.

Personally I’m sick of all this media coverage on this little weasel better know as…. David krupa
