* Remember Tuesday when I gently mocked Greg Baise on the blog?

Well, at around that same time, Baise was being prepared for surgery to have a stent put into an artery near his heart. That artery was 99 percent blocked. He’s returning in a few weeks to have another less severe blockage dealt with.

Baise and I are old pals, and I didn’t write anything on the blog that I wouldn’t have said to his face. Although, obviously, I wouldn’t have said it to his face while he was lying on a hospital bed during surgery and if somebody had told me what was going on I would’ve at least waited a day or two to launch on him. Or three.

He told me this morning that people warned him via text not to read the blog because it might upset him. So, of course, he read the blog. It didn’t upset him. I’ve often said that I can always trust Baise to tell me exactly what he believes. And he’s always heard the same from me.

But he still had a little fun trying to make me feel just a wee bit guilty today, even though he sounded great. Here’s how our phone conversation began…

Me: Shouldn’t you be resting?

Him: You #@*%$@-&*$#%$!!!!

Good times.

* The point here is that people often think of political players as cartoon characters. But these are real people with real families and real lives of their own. You can have your disagreements, but in the end we’re all human beings.

Baise went back to work almost right away. I’m not kidding. He’s quoted in a story that was published yesterday.

Keep on keeping on, Greg. Here’s to a long and happy life.

But shouldn’t you be resting?

  1. “But shouldn’t you be resting?” It’s truly amazing how far cardiac care has come in the past couple decades. A stent is practically routine, and if there’s no muscle damage, return to normal is phenomenally quick.

  2. =Me: Shouldn’t you be resting?

    Him: You #@*%$@-&*$#%$!!!!=

It’s not often that I agree with Greg but on this I agree 100%. All the best to you Greg and I hope for a speedy recovery.

  3. There’s a difference between the business abd people.

You can be against something and still see the good in people.

All the best to Baise. Here’s to a speedy recovery.

  4. Mr. Baise, I’d rather have you on the wrong side of an issue, than 6ft under. I’m glad they caught the blockage in time.

  5. This is why I respect you Rich, your fair and a real-life person who understands politics and life intersect, but that life is far more important..

  6. =You can have your disagreements, but in the end we’re all human beings.=

I wish more people would remember that.

And I wish Baise a quick and easy recovery.

  7. Best wishes to Spanky for a speedy recovery and hopes the whack jobs continue to p* their $ away on him. We have known Baiser since he walked BigJims dogs in that first campaign. Hope he continues to pick those pockets for a long time.

  8. Dude
    You gotta cool it.
    Not kidding.
My spouses Grandmother didn’t cool it after surgery and she paid for it with her life.
I like ranting at/about you too much.
    Seriously
What you just went through is big.
and I’ve got big plans to go after you
    on this blog.
You need to rest up for it.
It’s not sporting to hit you like this.
    Take advantage of your privilege
and join the rest of the owner/investor class
    in doing nothing productive.
(aw come on….that was pretty good right)
Although I just realized that laughing may hurt like hell when your chest has been cracked open like pecan. Sorry
Do take it super easy, going to fast too soon can really have bad consequences.

  10. I dunno, Rich, I’m literally looking at a cartoon of you as I write this.

  11. Amen.

We all need to learn to disagree better.

Thanks for making this part of your blog today Rich.

  12. A textbook example of how and why having differing opinions should make us better people.

  13. Oh my goodness…civility! I with others realized that it doesn’t need to be a blood sport. I hope Baise has a quick recovery. I’ve known him for a long time.

  14. Hope Dunkin sends him a nice get well bouquet. /s

Wishing you a full recovery Mr. Baise.

  15. Greg, rest dude. Seriously, nothing is happening right this minute that requires you to try to mobilize your assets. Take the down time while you can so that when this is all over you can enjoy your life to a fuller extent.

I might disagree with a lot of what comes out of your mouth these days, but at the end of the day I want you to be able to spend as much time with your friends and family as possible for as long as possible.

Comment by Fixer Thursday, Mar 7, 19 @ 12:36 pm

  16. Greg was probably pleased to see that you confirmed in writing that he has a heart!!
Heal up pal. And follow the Dr’s advice. Miller will provide all your future stress tests.

    Comment by A guy Thursday, Mar 7, 19 @ 12:51 pm

  17. Real people indeed. Being far away from the levers of power, I do forget these are real people. I wish good health for Mr. Greg Baise.

  18. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Baise!

  19. I agree with Rich; no matter the politics, we are all people (unless Oscar is blogging too). Glad to see Baise gave it right back to ya, Rich. :) We can be opposed without being enemies.

Comment by revvedup Thursday, Mar 7, 19 @ 4:05 pm

  20. People forget that politicians do have families and are loved by them. So take it easy and think before you tear them a new one.
