OK, first of all, the big highlighted case at his posted link of a death due to vaccination was a 19-month-old who had streptococcus pneumonia and four serious heart problems: Cardiac heterotaxy, dextrocardia, complete atrioventricular septal defect and pulmonary atresia.
Second, the article uses a chart from an ad clickbait website which supposedly shows the measles mortality rate dating back to 1900 and how it dropped years before the vaccine was introduced in 1963. But measles wasn’t even a reportable disease until 1919 and the numbers weren’t accurate when they were reported. From the CDC…
Before measles vaccine was licensed in 1963, an average of 400,000 measles cases were reported each year in the United States. However, because virtually all children acquired measles, the number of cases probably approached 3.5 million per year (i.e., an entire birth cohort).

Earlier this year, with the help of others, I introduced HB 342. It did not make it out of committee because of the misinformation and the money funneled from pharmaceutical companies to many politicians. The bill simply requires whoever is administering a vaccine to inform the patient if the vaccine contained aborted baby tissue.
Yeah, right. Big Pharma killed his bill. Okeedokee. More like common sense killed that turkey.
There is no “aborted baby tissue” in any vaccine. From the National Catholic Bioethics Center…
Cell lines such as WI-38, MRC-5, HEK-293, PER C6, WI-26 VA4, and Walvax-2 are derived from tissue from aborted fetuses. Any product grown in these or other cell lines derived from abortions, therefore, has a distant association with abortion. The cells in these lines have gone through multiple divisions before they are used in vaccine manufacture. After manufacture, the vaccines are removed from the cell lines and purified. One cannot accurately say that the vaccines contain any of the cells from the original abortion.
And the Vatican says preventing the spread of deadly disease, particularly to children and pregnant women, must take precedence, so get your kids vaccinated.
Also, the US Supreme Court upheld a state’s right to enforce compulsory vaccination laws way back in 1905.
Rep. Bailey’s bill has two co-sponsors: Fellow Eastern Bloc member Chris Miller and Metro East Democrat Monica Bristow.
I cannot believe I had to waste two hours of my day doing research to debunk this nonsense.

Reckless, dangerous & unconscionable. Measles in the U.S. were declared eliminated in 2000, yet this year already there have been almost 700 cases nationwide. This is on you, anti-vaxxers.

Ironic that much of the anti-vaccine propaganda and misinformation started with Russian sources, who pumped it via Facebook into Ukraine and the rest of the former Eastern bloc, before focusing on the USA.

The descent of the GOP into the party of conspiracy theorists, hucksters and scam artists has been a sight to behold. The modern Republican party has no platform other than “owning the libs,” and red meat for its base. Not interested in governing, not interested in solving problems, just dedicated to ideology at the expense of everything else.

Confused on to how this the Ninth Commandment, “Thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife”? “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” is Commandment 8. However, Catholics might have a different numbering system for the 10 Commandments.

Some anti-vaxxers have been pointing to the “measles” episode of “The Brady Bunch” in their propaganda as an authoritative documentation that the illness isn’t especially egregious and is ” not a huge issue and just something you stay home and deal with”. Surviving cast members from the show are livid that their image and the show are being used this way, and are speaking out.

Catholics omit the Charlton Heston / Jewish / Greek / Protestant 2nd, move the 9th to 8th, and split that 10th into 2 Commandments. Ian Paisley made a career out of those differences in Belfast.

I had done some research when my brother brought up this same nonsense. I looked into the history of the anti vax movement and was surprised how old it really is.

The perfidy of these type of pols will continue until they realize adverse ramifications. Media in Bailey’s district need to call him out. If they don’t, then the public health departments and advocates need to call out the media.

Abe you are so right. I was telling someone over the weekend this is my 25th session and the party of Jim Edgar, Kirk Dillard, Rosemary Mulligan, Eileen Lyons, Pat Linder and others is gone and probably not coming back.
As a Dem I often disagreed with them but at no time did I question their ability to grasp complex issues and try and work toward solutions.
It seems the current GOP is nothing more than a group that has no use for compromise, education and facts. They will continue to lose numbers and continue to complain their districts have no jobs or prospects for their children. And they own that,

As someone else pointed out - it’s not just the GOP. Some of the highest rates of non-vaccination are in upper-income liberal enclaves of California, Oregon and Washington. Many send their un-vaccinated kids to expensive private schools.
But it is certainly the case that the current GOP bears ultimate responsibility for their general anti-science stance. The GOP as a party certainly isn’t helping the situation.
Solutions: (1) do away with anything other than medical exceptions to vaccinations; (2) prohibit unvaccinated children (without a medical exception) from participating in any government-sponsored extra-curricular activity (e.g., sports, band, etc.) and (3) allow insurance companies to deny coverage for, and hold the parent(s) financially responsible for, the expenses of medical treatment for any minor to the extent those expenses are the proximate result of the failure of the parent to have the child vaccinated (unless there is a medical exception). I think that (3) possibly would be the most effective solution - make anti-vaxxers pay for their choice, so that others are not forced to subsidize their decisions with our own higher insurance rates.

It’s surprising to some given it’s perceived and real resistance to modernity, but the Catholic Church is refreshingly pro-science. Vaccinations are mandatory at my kids’ Catholic school.

Trump lovers.
Confederate sympathizers.
Conspiracy believers.
People against anything a Democrat says or does.

perhaps the people who are so concerned about human health should look at how many people die every year as a direct result of consuming flesh, dairy & eggs-not to mention the unthinkable suffering and death to billions of sentient beings along with being the leading source of environmental destruction.
btw, how come no one ever thinks about where the diseases which vaccines were made to protect against came from in the first place? chicken pox, swine & bird flu should tell one all they need to know.
