  2. Two questions.

    1. Is there a tax left that Governor Pritzker isn’t going to raise or attempt to raise in his first year in office?
    2. Did Local 150 write the capital bill or come up with the estimates for I-80 work? 1 billion for 16 miles of road and a couple of bridges? Wow. Imagine how much we could get done if pricing for road work was reasonable.

  3. May 19, 1979, The Cubs scored 22 runs…and lost. I think there should be a plaque somewhere.

    1) They came back from 11 runs down to tie it.
    2) Kingman out-homered Schmidt 3-2.
    3) Starting pitchers from both teams each lasted one-third of an inning.

  7. Anybody ever figure out why the Bears traded Jordan Howard for a sixth round pick in 2020?

If his roster spot being taken by a more productive player?

Did Ryan Pace discover a South Pacific island where power backs who can gain four tough yards a crack between the tackles grow on trees?

Or did Pace mistake Howard for that big-money kicker he signed who kept hitting the goalposts?

One question, Are those amounts the total cost, or just the State portion? How much will the federal government’s portion be? I had heard at one time that the federal government paid 90% on Interstate highways, and the state or local government had to pay 10%.

  9. How about that Cordell/Sanchez suicide squeeze. That was fun, eh Sox fans? Inching toward .500, if only we had some healthy pitching. And who knew James McCann was Hank Aaron? Certainly not James McCann.

  10. I’m a Blackhawks fan, but it seemed the Blues got hosed in overtime with the Sharks’ hand pass that resulted in their game-winning goal. I was watching when the refs didn’t call a penalty on a Blues player who shot the puck in the stands.

  11. What will Chancellor Jones and the Board of Trustees decide to do about selecting a replacement for Chief Illiniwek?

  12. Tim -
If you think the I-80 portion is gold plated, perhaps you’d be happier if the work was done using the I-80 expertise of Indiana and / or Iowa? /s

  13. I was at that game - the last three innings actually. That was back in the day when they opened the gates after the seventh inning stretch. Being a Lane Tech kid, we often wandered that way after school. The Cubs scored three to tie it in the eighth (maybe seventh) only for Schmidt to tag Sutter in the top of the tenth. I cannot remember if the Cubs even had a baserunner in the bottom of the ninth.
