* Last year

On his latest podcast, Emanuel sat down with fellow Democrat and lobbed a few questions about the incoming governor’s Chicagoness. Emanuel asked Pritzker about his preferred baseball team, Cubs vs. Sox, and softball size — 12-inch or 16-inch.

The governor-elect said “16 inch” before offering: “Cubs … but I’m for all teams in Illinois.”

* Today…

Pritzker says he’s a Cubs fan. But then learns Michael Reinsdorf, President of the Bulls and son of Jerry, who owns the Sox and Bulls, is in the crowd and says, “Ha…I love all the teams of Illinois.”

* Also today…

Chicago is the proud home of two MLB baseball teams—and one of the best rivalries in sports. As another #CrosstownClassic is underway, I’ll be cheering on my beloved @whitesox!

— Mayor Lori Lightfoot (@chicagosmayor) June 19, 2019

That’s how it’s done, governor.

Go Sox.

    I’m assuming he’s not a fan of what I call “honorary Illinois teams”: the Cardinals and Blues.

  3. ===Cominsky Park ===

    I’ve heard it pronounced that way for years. People got on Obama for saying that, but it’s fairly common.

  10. ==one of the best rivalries in sports.==

    At best, a distant third behind Yankees-Red Sox and Cubs-Cardinals, but that goes to show just how much better she handled the question than the Governor.

  11. ==one of the best rivalries in sports.==

    This is just absurd. It’s probably not in the top 50 best sports rivalries.

    I’d put most, if not all, college football ahead. Nothing quite like rivalry week in the fall.

    The crosstown distinction does make it unique like other cities, not sure about best.
