A former Democratic candidate for Illinois governor announced his campaign for U.S. Senate in 2020 against Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.)
Robert Marshall, a Vietnam veteran and licensed physician, is running as a Republican in the upcoming election.
“I am running for the United States Senate because we need someone with a public service background that will bring Health Care expertise that will bring solutions that will be pro-tax payer and be centered on the patient but we also need someone who will support President Trump’s fight to secure our border, fight for fiscal responsibility, and make the American taxpayer the top priority,” Marshall said.
Marshall said he ran as a Democrat under an anti-House Speaker Michael Joseph Madigan campaign, but noted he was always pro-life and is a member of the NRA.
*Sigh*
Marshall’s lone claim to fame during the Democratic primary was his proposal to divide Illinois into three states.

There are no A-List Republicans.
The phonies who became Raunerites and still won’t fess up to the damage they helped create know… they are not going to defeat Durbin because when they sold out to Raunerism… they lost the credibility needed to win statewide… until they offer a mea culpa, and begin as a refreshed candidate who learned from their mistakes…
There are *no* A-List Republicans, Raunerites gave up the opportunity to be such candidates.

While I can’t open videos to see the whole speech I agree with that statement. We all laugh and love and live. We all breath air. We all depend on each other. There is plenty of common ground if we look for it.

Adam Andrzejewski should run. He got a lot of mileage out of coming in 5th in the 2010 GOP Gubernatorial primary. He’ll get whooped but it will raise his profile with the Fox News types.

Until the party realizes former Rep. Andersson was a hero and those who cheered his ouster are the ones ruining the GOP, nope, there are no A-List Republicans.
In actuality, the deafening silence in the Raunerite ranks on the Eastern Bloc folks…
The “leftovers” want a regional, angry, white, rural party.
Until leadership emerges that is willing to eat the mistakes, admit them, and tell voters to look at the GOP post Rauner as the reasonable, welcoming, inclusive party of the collar counties, central and southern Illinois, and She-Caw-Go voters too are welcome… until then…
No. There are no A-List Republicans.

Disappointed with Durbin. He keeps voting for every record defense increase under President Trump and has not lifted a finger to help people with student loans or help make college affordable. The base needs to demand far better from Sen. Durbin and insist he support Medicare for All. Stop being complacent Senator Durbin!

Dr. Robert Marshall running as a Republican against Senator Durbin is just as wild as his plan to break up Illinois and the kind of news that makes life worth living. I sort of admire his perseverance.

After 2022, whatever is left of a GOP/Raunerite party that faces a new map and statewide challenges will need to come to grips with those standing as elected officials, those numbers are going to shrink, and how they (electeds) decide to cull the herd themselves for their own survival probably won’t help in a rebuild.

Non-story. Why waste money on this race if you’re the GOP? He’s probably closer to OK than great as a Senator but he’s not terribly unpopular and it’s a tough year for GOP. The handful of sane GOP left are hiding in the wilderness trying to figure out wth happened to their party and how to get it back. Save your resources for later on.

How about Dan Proft? He has run for statewide office before, and he would revel in the spotlight. If Durbin agreed to debate him, it would make great entertainment.
