  1. How is that even a debate? lol.

  2. I voted yes, but how many will miss their planes?

Comment by Old Illini Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 3:36 pm

  3. Yes. Provides entertainment while waiting for a flight. Seems like a win across the board.

  4. Slots at the airport is ridiculous. 70% of O’Hare’s traffic are only people connecting. Do we really want to promote Chicago as a gambling destination to those travelers?

Furthermore, federal law says any money generated at an airport has to stay at the airport. O’Hare doesn’t need that money after the recent airline lease agreement contracts that were just renegotiated.

  5. Yes - it seems to be the only way to export our taxes onto tourists! (People changing planes in either airport.)

Comment by Anyone Remember Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 3:42 pm

  6. Why not? They have had slots in the Las Vegas airport for decades. And it could give someone something to do besides drink while waiting for a plane.

    Comment by A Jack Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 3:42 pm

  7. Yes
Right now the best you get from someone on a layover or connection is a little retail tax. Now you’ll get some gaming dollars as well.

Comment by Dupage Bard Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 3:43 pm

  8. I don’t approve of gambling but — why not? The machines are almost everywhere else now.

Comment by IllinoisBoi Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 3:45 pm

  9. Absolutely wrote in JRTC. :-)

I don’t much like the machines in airports, though I suspect I’m very much in the minority there.

  10. Voted yes. Gaming dollars from tourist are a good thing.

Comment by Centennial Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 3:53 pm

  11. cause why not?!? just make sure the casino that will be somewhere in the city is built in a place where tourists will visit. and include entertainment. would be great to have more interesting places for comedy, and music. I’ve seen some great acts in Vegas. Don’t spoil the opportunity by putting a casino down south or in K town.

  12. The James R Thompson Casino & Waterpark Center is the future.

I wrote in the JRTC. Did you?

Comment by State of DenIL Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:01 pm

  13. Absolutely and make sure are in international terminals
And if Feds say that money does have to stay at airport Let it. Just reduce state funding. Sorta like lottery for schools

Comment by DuPage Saint Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:03 pm

  14. Yes - An easy way to get some tax bucks from visitors.

Comment by NIU Grad Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:06 pm

  15. ===Why not?===

Ask the mayor. She’s not enamored with the idea. I dunno, maybe because of Rivers.

Comment by Rich Miller Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:06 pm

  16. Nope, it will be way too much like Vegas. Can’t find a seat during busy times of the day because the slot chairs are for gamblers but are the only ones open.

Comment by SpfdNewb Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:08 pm

  17. If you can have snakes on a plane, why not slots in an airport?

Comment by Streator Curmudgeon Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:09 pm

  18. I think it might bring in a lot of money. Go for it.

    Comment by Flynn's Mom Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:09 pm

  19. Yes many other airports have and they better financial condition than Chicago

    Comment by Cannon649 Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:10 pm

  20. DuPage Saint - O’Hare is not funded by the State, nor the City (although the City is the pass-through for various funding, but no corporate/general funds).

Comment by Just Me Friday, Jul 26, 19 @ 4:17 pm

  21. Yes why not maybe collect some dough from pass thrugh travelers. ORD has plenty of wether delays may as well make a few more bucks. Caveate; the money must be able to go into grf and not have to be spent in the airpot footprint.
