Then in 2005, Glennon was indicted in what prosecutors say was a $700,000 kickback scheme involving construction projects at the Chicago Medical School.
Now, Glennon faces trial on Nov. 26 on federal charges of aiding and abetting the misapplication of government funds and lying to the FBI.
Despite his troubles, Glennon remains registered with the state as a lobbyist. And he still has one blue-chip client: the Wirtz Corp., owner of the Chicago Blackhawks.

State Sen. Terry Link, D-Waukegan, has been named the American Cancer Society’s “Legislator of the Year” for his lead sponsorship of the Smoke Free Illinois Act. It is the first time the society has named a “legislator of the year.” At the same time, Link has received the President’s Award from the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians, also for his work on the smoke-free bill.

Rabbi Oler in the ST Link: The legislature may have a majority, but America’s Constitution and the religious values many of us hold dear, such as the Torah’s dictum to “proclaim liberty throughout the land, to all the inhabitants thereof,” impel us to protect even a minority of one student from such coercion.
Getting a moment of silence mandated wasn’t one of my priorities.
Now that we have it, I’m not bent out of shape with it either.
It seems with 30 plus high school kids shot dead coming or going from Chicago schools, the urgency from protecting them from deadly coercion outweighs the need to protect them from a coerced moment of silence.
These social issues, like a moment of silence, just seem so false compared to the real issue of the government’s failure to protect.

The “Free Flow of Information” act that Pelosi’s stooges passed is just life insurance for dinosaurs like the mainstream media.
It is proof that newspapers are dying and those who own them are reaching out to legal means to keep their investments.
Not protecting all bloggers is a recognition by these same special interests that what they do is realistically threatened by real people delivering real information free.

What’s Emil Jones going to say to ComEd this time around? Probably that %8 is not enough, give them %10. Evidently Jones’ constituents don’t know what this bully is doing in Springfield, or don’t care.

This was noted in the “Morning Shorts”.
“Commonwealth Edison wants to raise electric bills by roughly 8 percent to replace aging infrastructure in some areas and extend service in fast-growing collar counties, the utility said Wednesday.
ComEd said Wednesday it is asking the Illinois Commerce Commission to raise its distribution charge by $361 million a year.”
What are legal/regulatory standards that are the focus of the ICC inquiry into the request?

I see Terry Link has accepted the honor of meddling in the lives of not only his contituennts, but thhat of all who enter Illinois.
Does anyone know if his wife remains a Ameritech/SBC lobyist? Never got the concept of why that it was not a conflict, since that it involves a regulated industry…..

A Heads Up from inside of IDOT.
The Complete Street legislation is a feel good piece of work that will take more motor fuel tax (MFT) away from roads in order to build bike paths and sidewalks. MFT is a great user fee tax, if you don’t want to pay it - don’t drive. Leave it to the special interest groups to raid the cookie jar.
Well, I guess there is always casino money to build roads…
