Question of the day

Posted in:

* Sports betting analyst Sam Panayotovich was on WGN Radio today after attending the first day of sports betting at Rivers Casino

And then Neil Bluhm, who’s the chairman of Rush Street Gaming, let’s just say he had a clothing gaffe, when the belt came off and the pants came down and he was giving a speech. … And then he said, ‘Well, the stock market’s down today and so are my pants.’ And then he pulled them back up and belted them back up.

Panayotovich, who is the son of former Rep. Sam Panayotovich, said Bluhm’s pants didn’t quite fall down to his knees.

* The Question: What’s the most most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you in public?

  1. How can we possibly discuss the first day of legal betting at Rivers without mentioning that Eddie Olcyzk placed the first bet and it was 100 bucks on the White Sox winning the AL pennant.

  3. Not the most embarrassing, but a good story for this blog:

I was running up the steps from the 2nd to 3rd floor in the State House. I was in a hurry and was plowing through a crowd of people in my way. I didn’t notice that the crowd was Rod Blagojevich and the State House press corps. I ran right into the Governor and my lips even touched his nose. We both stood there for a moment, and eventually I said “Sorry” as I pushed him aside and kept running.

  4. Mine involved a Southwest flight from Vegas that had a three hour layover where I spent all of my time and what was left of my money at an airport bar (this was also at about 10:00 in the morning). The rest of the story involves projectile vomiting at 33,000 feet, somewhere over Kansas. I owe dozens of passengers some serious dry-cleaning reimbursements. Thankfully this was many, many years ago and the statute of limitations has long since passed.

When they offer you a double shot for only $1 extra, think very hard before going down that road.

  9. At a high school speech on Germany which I Delivered speech from typed notes that said ‘#1 in grapes’, but I said ‘#1 in rapes’ without realizing. Everyone was laughing and I didn’t know why until the teacher confronted me and accused me of intentionally making the mistake for laughs. Felt like never going back to school.

  11. I was teaching a university class and as usual often propped my foot up on an empty seat while speaking. Problem was, my pants zipper had broken and my fly was wide open, so I was semi-flashing the class. Topic for that day: Sex harassment.
