The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 250 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including four deaths; a Chicago resident in his 50s, two Cook County residents both in their 60s, and a DuPage County resident in her 90s.
Grundy County is now reporting a case. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,535 cases in 32 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to 99 years. Cases by county can be found on the IDPH website, as well as a list of local health departments who will have the most up-to-date information.

Why are some county health departments releasing more details than others?
For example, I can read a story about Dupage county releasing the information that someone in Naperville at North Central college has tested positive. OR the Aurora police department employee.
But in Will county, and many others, all we get is the county but no location.
What this appears to be doing is making the risk seem more intangible in the counties restricting the information on locality. And in those areas people are taking this much less seriously and wandering around like there isn’t a problem.
If people know there is a case very near them, it will start to break through the bubble of invincibility to change behaviors that need to be changed.
And don’t anybody claim this has anything to do with HIPAA. The CDC explicitly states this data can be given to public health departments, and it obviously is being done that way in Dupage county.

Details are limited for privacy concerns. Those who need to know, should know. The public needs to know enough to take precautions to protect their health. When you identify people the fear or actually become a pariah.

A quick perusal of multiple southern IL health Department web sites reveals everything from a very few with good info, to many with no info, or last updated over 10 days ago, or simply a brief note re general and not necessarily the most current guidelines. Rather disconcerting to say the least

In the last 3 days new cases have gone up by about a steady 250 each day. While it is way too early to make a conclusion about trends (especially given the lack of testing), it is good to see that number not continuing to increase exponentially like in the previous week or so. Need to keep an eye over the next week or two to see if the stay at home order might have stopped the exponential increase in new cases, perhaps leveling off or even declining at some point. Daily new cases in Italy have begun declining a bit, which is a good sign and would follow China’s pattern.

There is a lot of emphasis on acquiring ventilators, masks, gloves, and gowns. What is also missing from the discussion is all of the associated ICU equipment such as monitors, leads to monitoring patches for ekgs, all of the single use paraphernalia that is needed for an ICU patient. This is not to mention the iv bags, hypodermic needles, syringes, medications, oxygen tanks and cannula, the list is endless.
If there is any thought of trying to reopen a previously closed hospital, all of the equipment, not just ventilators, will be needed. How are these building going to be staffed?

The number is still continuing to double every two days and that’s still with limited testing. Not good.

If you plot this as the natural logarithm of cases, it is almost perfectly linear, suggesting we’re still in an exponential growth scenario

What you’re looking at there is most likely an artificial bottleneck caused by data validity due to our testing ability no longer keeping pace with the sampling requirements for the full extent of the community spread of the virus, along with the artificial restrictions placed on who is receiving the test.

Does anyone know where to find the number of tests performed per day? The total number of confirmed cases is kind of meaningless without being able to compare it against the number of tests that were performed in that same time span.

If the Governor Really cared he would not require State of Illinois employees continue to report to work. However, due to out of date equipment workers are unable to work from home in most cases
Maybe if we paid our bills someone would have sold us PPE
