-EXIT RAMP CLOSURES - June 1, 2020 -
As of 12:15 p.m., the following Interstate exit ramp closures are effective until further notice:
I-94 N/B and S/B to Lake Street
I-94 N/B and S/B ramps to Old Orchard Road
I-290 E/B to Congress
I-94 N/B ramp to Congress
I-90 N/B ramp to Ohio
I-90 S/B to Ohio
ALL exit ramps on I-90/94 from 18th Street to Division Street are closed until further notice.
The exit ramps are listed below:

Roosevelt Road
Taylor Street
Polk Street
Van Buren Street
Jackson Boulevard
Adams Street
Monroe Street
Madison Street
Washington Boulevard

Burbs and neighborhood stores next targets, lets hope we can stop all of this. Wouldn’t want to be gamestop in uptown or a shoe store anywhere. They made it through Bucktown.

I really hope that ISP’s intent on closing Lake is it’s proximity to Old Orchard and ease of access. But, if that were the case, I would expect Dempster to be closed too, because it’s just as easy.
But, as that isn’t the case, this sure looks like ISP is trying to protect the tony enclaves on the north shore…

Not being from Chicago, I don’t get the closure of the exits on 90/94. From Division to 18th is only 3 miles long. Will this really impact individuals with an intent to wreak havoc?

Lake and Old Orchard have been closed since yesterday evening. There were unfounded rumors about looting Old Orchard. Dempster was open but so was Willow and Dundee so the “protecting tony North Shore suburbs” doesn’t really hold up too well.

This has to end. Some of the things I’m seeing on the alternative internet sites are showing that if it doesn’t stop people are planning on taking it in their own hands as they feel their government has failed them.
I’m so worried that this is only the beginning and I’m unsure as to what will make it better but I’m sick of others failures ruining my ability to be free.
Were closing entire cities and neighborhoods like its the new norm. Scary stuff.

One difference from the 60’s is how quickly and effectively the troublemakers and gangs can communicate, coordinate, and respond. If there are leaders with the stature and moral authority, I would like to see them say “We have made our point about police brutality. Focus now on the November elections. Don’t let the rioters hijack our just anger and destroy our neighborhoods.

But every time protesters have stood down before this has happened again. I’m not sure what the answer is, to be honest, but when is enough enough? When do the police treat the members of every community with the kid gloves and common courtesy with which the anti-lockdown protestors were treated? When will the police be held accountable for bad behavior even when cameras aren’t on them?

Lots of small-scale looting in my neighborhood (Kenwood), up and down 47th St. Just retail– opportunists. Is this what it takes to get white people’s attention? Thankfully, we have good leadership at the city and state level at the moment.

Shutting down Xway entrances and exits may help tonight and tomorrow. But isn’t that just kicking the can down the road? Certainly they can’t be closed for an extended period of time. In the meantime, traffic will be pushed into the neighborhood streets.

I took my Mom out for a drive yesterday. She stayed in the car practicing Social Distancing and non-contact. I had my mask and followed the rules in place. She just wanted a drive after being inside for almost three months. So many roads are closed around here including southbound Lake Shore Drive. We drove past the Walgreens on Green Bay Road shortly before it was looted. I was in complete shock that it was looted. I almost went there to get my Mom a water but luckily brought one with. I heard that the Best Buy And Jewel on Howard in Evanston were looted. I am more worried for my Mom then myself so I won’t be giving her a car ride anytime soon.
I grew up in a very diverse neighborhood and have worked in the most dangerous neighborhoods of Chicago so I don’t scare easily. I just worry for my family and friends of all races and national origins. My family now consist of over 20 national origins and three races. People can get along and love each other. It is possible.
By the way, Lake Avenue in Wilmette is the exit for two malls which is why it is closed. It also is the exit for Loyola Academy.

Well this cop was charged with murder. Not sure what else can be done with that situation for now. I’m not sure what you mean by being accountable when the cameras are not not on them. The cameras offer some proof. If you are going to take the word of every person arrested that they were wronged them you might as well just not arrest anyone. There has to be some other evidence that the cop did something wrong.

Wanted to go to the home depot in Peru this afternoon. When we got there, the store was closed and doors were being barricaded with pallets of materials. The target store was also closed.
We asked a clerk what was going in, she responded that there was a protest at 5PM in LaSalle.
The pressure of the stay at home orders has commingled with the Minneapolis shooting and the world has exploded.
