Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office on Tuesday announced that starting Saturday, Region 1, which includes counties in the northwestern-most part of the state, will have added COVID-19 restrictions such as limits on restaurants and bars. Schools are not impacted by the new mitigations. That’s similar to measures still in place for Region 4 and what was put in place but repealed weeks later in Region 7. […]

I’m not trying to be mean or make any insults here, but I have no other way to describe this than having the thinking process of an actual toddler. How is this acceptable to any adult in his district.

The irony is that if Syverson were a strong enough leader he could convince an extra 500, likely negative, region 1 residents to get tested every day he himself would be able to drive that positivity rate down.

Yet another example of why we can’t get ahead of this thing. Instead of owning up to the problems that exist in Region 1, Syverson cries “you can’t make me.” Does anybody really believe that Pritzker’s goal is randomly punish these regions? What possible purpose would that serve?

This Governor and his people at the IDPH and DCEO have been anything but clear and transparent regarding their “guidance,” “data,” and “science.” And, most of the MSM fails to question the policy decisions in any credible way.

This. All day, everyday, and twice on Sundays.
People here have dropped their guard and are not wearing masks like they were a couple of months ago. Locally we have had several large parties that have spread COVID as well.
It is their fault.

Sweden - 577 COVID deaths per 1,000,000
United States - 578 COVID deaths per 1,000,000
That’s according to Worldometer. I can’t tell you that’s entirely accurate, and I’m sure there are imperfections in the way both countries count “COVID deaths.”
But here’s the point - you’ll know what the best strategy was when it’s over - not now. Despite the degree of certitude being spouted by some, we’ve never been through this before, so we don’t now know what the best macro-strategy will turn out to be anymore than you know the outcome of a nine inning baseball game in the fifth inning.
Until then, serious people need to objectively evaluate the outcomes as they become apparent, and not evaluate other points of view through a partisan lens nor use other countries as punchlines.

Yeah, about that Sweden thing, again, Dr. Fauci went toe to toe with the eye doctor Rand Paul, covid-19 infectee, and made clear, the Sweden experience, even compared to Norway and other countries in that region was poor, and their model would be catastrophic for the United States.

Sweden’s experience is not that different from Illinois’, statistically speaking. Difference is they shut down nothing. It makes one wonder if the economic and social cost of the shutdown, which has been enormous in lives ruined, was worth it. The argument can be made in the comparison that Illinois would have faired little worse remaining open. As did South Dakota.
