10,526 new confirmed and probable cases; 148 additional deaths; 5,453 hospitalized; 1,153 in the ICU; 10.3 percent case positivity rate; 12.1 percent test positivity rate

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 10,526 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 148 additional deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 770,088 cases, including 12,974 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 112,634 specimens for a total 10,918,998. As of last night, 5,453 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,153 patients were in the ICU and 703 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from November 27 – December 3, 2020 is 10.3%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from November 27 – December 3, 2020 is 12.1%.

  1. Transmission rates in the Midwest seem to have peaked around Columbus Day and then declined until around Veteran’s Day, and then started creeping up little by little everyday since.

  2. 26 of 148 deaths are in Cook County. So that county has the most deaths, but 122 deaths are in other counties, many more counties. you know how some on this site talk about pols not winning counties statewide? this is a race you don’t want to win. Mask up. Socially distance. stay inside. wash your hands.

  3. Perhaps the death rate would lower if the high risk groups were better elevated in communications. We don’t recommend that men get mammograms, despite the fact that some men need them. Focusing on women hits the target audience and saves lives.

  4. Reality, I was briefly confused and thought you were saying more women die of Covid than men. Then I realized that was an extension of your analogy. I remember early in the pandemic, a higher percentage of the dying were men, now it seems more even. Not sure what to make of that.

    I actually think the news is really out there that old people are super susceptible as well as people with diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cancer…it’s just that when you add all that up you get to a majority.

  5. In McLean County, 961 residents tested positive in the past week.

    The age breakdown of McLean County COVID cases of the past week were:

    Seven people under the age of 1
    One hundred eleven people ages 1 through 17
    Forty-four people ages 18 or 19
    One hundred ninety-seven people in their 20s
    One hundred thirty-eight people in their 30s
    One hundred fifteen people in their 40s
    One hundred forty-nine people in their 50s
    One hundred thirteen people in their 60s
    Fifty-nine people in their 70s
    Seventeen people in their 80s
    And 11 people in their 90s.

    At the COVID-19 testing site at the McLean County Fairgrounds,603 people were tested on Thursday, McLean County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) reported on Friday. Illinois Department of Public Health has placed a cap on the number of daily tests at community-based testing sites. The cap for the fairgrounds site, operated by Reditus Laboratories, is 750 tests per day. (source: Pantagraph)
