  1. Darren Bailey sure gets excited talking to small “crowds” (more like small gatherings) everyday.

  2. Sen. Bailey’s campaign tweeted yesterday in response to the P-12 mask mandate that mental health matters. For once I am in agreement with him. Mental health does matter and I have long believed that there is a mental health crisis in this country.

I look forward to the initiatives the Senator will surely take to expand access to mental health treatment since it’s clearly a priority for him. /s

  3. When are the Cook county clerk, assessor, and treasurer going to get their acts together and issue the tax bills? This delay is a boon to banks and mortgage companies but must be hurting local governments. If I’ve calculated right, they are passing up (borrowing) at least ten billion dollars.

  4. Cubs wanna open a sportsbook, bricks and mortar location in Wrigleyville, part of the Cubs complex.

Can’t afford to pay Bryant, et al, but money for a sportsbook?

  5. “but money for a sportsbook?”

Pro team owners kicked fans to the curb twenty years ago.

TV rights, and now legalized gambling, is the moneymaker.

Fielding a competitive team is a distant second.

  6. Wrigleyville is now an entertainment center… with baseball, not the other way around.

Yes, I know it’s been like this for a “while” (even pre-Ricketts) but the “pretend part” of it being about baseball is vanishing by the second.

  7. I wonder if all the gambling at Wrigley will not only be limited to betting for the Cubs (and against the Sox, Cards, and Brew Crew), but also betting on the intricate sabermetrics of the game. Or things like what player gets the Cubs’ first hit of the game, etc.

  8. ===Pro team owners kicked fans to the curb twenty years ago.===

NFL owners did that in 1982 with the post-strike commercials after kick-offs.

  9. Am getting an American Gothic vibe from Darren Bailey. No disrespect to Grant Wood.

With Darren sporting a pitchfork in one hand, this would be a perfect campaign poster.

Wrigley has been pretty much an “entertainment Center” since the rise of Superstation WGN and Harry Caray coming to the North Side. Coupled with the Cubs’ improbable ‘84 NL East title run.

Treasurer’s homepage says late August, with an anticipated due date of October 1.

One or two weeks ago it said “mid-August”. Next will be “early September”. Meanwhile my mortgage servicer thinks there wont be a bill until January and is adjusting escrow accordingly. They are in Texas.
