  1. I’m trying to understand the misinformation and such as part of the reason so many people won’t get vaccinated, but the emotion I feel most strongly is anger. We should be out of this thing, but we aren’t. And it’s because of them. I’m so exhausted of all of this, and I am ready to get back to some semblance of normal.

  2. We continue to be held hostage by a minority of individuals and the politicians who enable them. I’m hoping that businesses leaders can finally lead us out of this mess by saying enough is enough and mandating vaccines for employees, customers, etc. I don’t see any other viable path.

  3. “I’m hoping that businesses leaders…” I don’t disagree, but find it sad that we would have to look to the private sector to enforce public safety.

  4. That PIC should be posted everywhere. They should have two gates at the fair, one for vaccinated visitors, one for not, then run the non vaccinated humans through gates like cattle shoots.

If they won’t let cattle on a feed or barn lot without being vaccinated the same should be for humans going to large events. It’s called heard management and safety.

  5. Trying to decide if that’s supposed to just be harmless fun or mocking of vaccines. I’m gonna go with harmless fun. I’m sure cattle need to be vaccinated for several things to be allowed into the fair.

  6. Topic different than picture. Tuesday’s news that the “Madigan inner circle” trial was set for Sept. 12, 2022 & the prosecution says their case will take “about a month” … . Doesn’t that guarantee a verdict just before the November 2022 elections?

  7. Any idea why the state still hasn’t completed it’s 6/30/2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report? And covid is not an excuse.

  8. Good to see the Sox win a close game against a good team.

I wonder about the Cubs: isn’t it time to bring Rick Renteria back as manager? He could work with the young kids and then they could fire him in 2-3 years when the team gets good. Isn’t that the Chicago way?

Depends if it gets bumped again or not. Could very well if the Feds issue a superseding indictment with a lot more charges, or dump another million pages of records on the defense.

  10. ===And covid is not an excuse.===

    “Ok”….

Good thing covid didn’t effect *you*, only the whole globe has been effected, but… golly, you’re lucky

    Maybe someone will ask…

  11. “harmless fun” but might not be a bad idea to get the non vaccinated on board with the plan.

  12. Dumb move by Lance Lynn last night. Throwing his belt at the Umpire won’t get him the benefit of the doubt in future games. Childish behavior by a possible future Cy Young award winner.

  13. ==I wonder about the Cubs: isn’t it time to bring Rick Renteria back as manager?==

Would he even be interested? Wouldn’t he still be bitter at the Cubs for firing him after one season following the 2014 season just to bring in Maddon? (Even though that Cubs team was starting to show promise).

  14. don’t like the Lance Lynn reaction but also don’t like that the umps waited so long for the ask….at least that’s how I’m understanding it. it’s time to mic up the umps.

  15. I was being snarky about Renteria. But something has to be done to preserve Ross’ sanity. And Renteria has done this twice before, so . . .?

Comment by Keyrock Thursday, Aug 19, 21 @ 11:26 am

  16. The thing about David Ross is that but for the Cubs and sentimentality he wouldn’t be a major league manager. The Cubs no that and Ross likely does as well. The writing was on the wall when they hired him.

  19. For lack of posting as Rich is at the Fair … CAFR is out. 2.4% increase in All Funds Deficit, 14.7% decrease in General Fund Deficit.

  20. State Fair gripe of the day … went in 4 buildings that had a stop sign saying to please wear a mask. Mrs and I wore ours but NONE of the workers or vendors were wearing one. The closest I saw was 1 person wearing a mask around their neck.

So much for the reported strict enforcement.

The good news (or bad depending on your point of view) is that without crowds it was easy to social distance both inside and outside
