* If you’re too bummed to talk about football, you can always talk about other Illinois-centric topics. Have at it.

  1. Honestly I get very concerned about how early you wake up. Which I know is compounded by how late I stay up (since I work second shift). But are you getting enough sleep, Rich? I worry (banned punctuation).

It’s a mom thing, I know. But I worry. I want you to stay healthy (banned punctuation).

  2. Thanks, but I’ve never been able to establish a set sleep schedule throughout my entire life. This job is perfect for me. lol

  3. As I tell my kids, if you’re happy, I’m happy. And I’ve been working a shifted sleep schedule since I was 18 years old (and I love it). I just want to be sure you’re healthy and happy. If you’re good, I’m good. :)

  5. Cards keep winning (as do the Sox) and the Cubs keep losing.

  6. What a beautiful weekend. The WineTrail was crazy busy.

  7. You’re right, Rich. I really do not want to talk about the Illinois and Purdue game, but what about those Cardinals. “Sweet 16″ - a streak that just keeps going, 11 wins in a row on the road and a 4 game sweep over my second favorite team, the Cubs. Life is good right now.

  8. What a gorgeous weekend it was. And fwiw (and I have no idea what it’s worth) NIU beat Maine Saturday.

  9. How many games might the Bears win this year?

  10. Joe Montana couldn’t win with that O-line.

    Again, if you’re buying Bears tickets/merchandise, you’re a sucker.

  11. “How many games might the Bears win this year?” That will depend on how many yards the defense gains.

  12. Go Southern Go.
That’s all the words I know.

  13. This is about the time of the season when optimism for the Bears gets extinguished. But at least we’re not the Lions. Great historic field goal yesterday.

  14. Sheriff Dart vs IDOC? Will the administration address the prison transfer issue now?

  15. It remains a mystery how a state the size of Illinois with a rich history of producing college and pro football players, can simply be so bad at producing winning football teams on the pro and college levels.

  16. Despite an emergency Zoom call Saturday morning, it was an absolutely gloriously splendiferous weekend.

I spent it at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, on which the weather gods smiled. It was so good to have it back.

  17. I dunno…

Which is worse, Illini football or Bears football?

It was fun watching the Cubs be swept while out of state. It was so bad, I had to watch it on the Cardinals feed. Total disaster, a failure, the Marquee Channel.

  18. watching the Bears one also notices other NFL scores, so at least the Bucs and the Patriots (the hate continues) both lost.

  19. It was a gorgeous weekend. I practically spent the whole thing outside. I followed the German election coverage, and noted some common pernicious customs (talking over one another without listening to what the other is saying). Someone needs to patent a gadget that simultaneously mutes a mic and sends an unpleasant electric jolt to the person overspeaking. The duration of the jolt could lengthen for each time this occurs. There are, apparently, at least two markets for this.

  20. The Bears….*sigh*….are who we thought they were. And you can’t pin the loss on Justin Fields. Between blown coverages, missed tackles, and terrible blocking, it’s a wonder the score wasn’t worse.
Nagy and Pace…..should be on the bubble for this mess.

  21. My sleep “schedule” is like yours, Rich…I had the perfect job for me…too.

  22. NIU rolled Maine 41 14. Wasn’t pretty and against an FCS opponent, but the Huskies did what they needed to do. On to the conference schedule.

  23. Not in Illinois but Illinois related, R Kelly guilty. I hope Jim DeRogatis is on tv or radio talking about this because he has been preaching the truth for years and getting hit on it often. Bless the women…often very young…who endured abuse and fought back.

  24. What else is there in life?

Comment by filmmaker prof Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:12 pm

  25. Widespread Panic…thanks…I didn’t know.

    Listening to them now…immaculate…Maui OG.
