  1. Doing well. Thanks for asking. How was the doctor’s appointment the other day? Clean bill of health from the heart attack a few years ago?

Comment by Huh? Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 2:53 pm

  2. Good enough.

  3. ===the heart attack===

I did not have a heart attack. I had bypass surgery before that could happen. But I’m fine, thanks for asking.

Comment by Rich Miller Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 2:57 pm

  4. Got my third shot yesterday, six months and three days after my second dose. I am feeling mildly under the weather today, but not nearly as bad as round 1. On the other-hand, my animus toward those walking around the grocery story with masks on their chin declined almost instantly, so I think overall the trade-off for my blood pressure is already a big win.

My anger is being replaced by pity.

Also: Cardinals 16 wins in a row, how about them apples?

Comment by Yellow Dog Democrat Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:08 pm

  5. Don’t like this weather. I miss cool fall days. It seems like it goes directly from hot summer to dead of winter now with no spring or fall in between.

Comment by This is ridiculous Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:14 pm

  6. Pretty good. Having sinus issues due to allergies, but generally beautiful weather. Feeling weird being an empty nester still. Fortunately daughter #2 lost her phone which just makes it feel like nothing has changed. ;)

Comment by ArchPundit Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:21 pm

  7. What a long, strange trip…

I’d wouldn’t mind getting a third shot, but I’m waiting for the Moderna to be approved. I got my flu shot last week; pneumonia and shingles shots are on the list for sometime soon.

I am fighting pandemic fatigue; I’m so ready to move on. Unfortunately, the virus doesn’t care. Fortunately, I have some tasty edibles in the cupboard and the Grateful Dead streaming channel to treat the ennui.

  8. Woke up today…. Still beats all the alternatives.

The rest will take care of itself… over time.

Comment by Right Field Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:39 pm

  9. I got my 1st Pfizer - nothing. I got my 2nd Pfizer - slept for 10 1/2 hours. I just recently got my booster - nothing. My take is the reason I slept so much from the 2nd wasn’t a side effect, it was relief. I feel great and even more relieved.

  10. Been better.

Comment by The Captain Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:42 pm

  11. How about those White Sox? It’s taking away the dread of how bad the Bears are playing on offense right now. Sox scored more runs today than Bears. It’s brutal.

  12. Health: Good
Sanity: Good as long as I don’t read the news

    Comment by Consultant101 Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:48 pm

  13. Getting by. Having a lot of anxiety over all this COVID carelessness by some people. I don’t understand how people can walk through life in such denial of the science while making up excuses to not be vaccinated. I just have to remember to worry about my circle and not worry about everyone else.

Glad you are well Rich and thanks for taking the time to ask about all of us.

    Comment by Club J Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 3:49 pm

  14. What Pot Kettle said ….”Pandemic Fatigue” There is so much contradictory information where’s one out. I just want to get back to normal configurations in working & social life. But I do like working from home most days. So done with the city commute.

Comment by NorthsideNoMore Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 4:01 pm

  15. Not as well as the White Sox, better than the Cubs, and wayyyy better than the Bears.

Comment by ChicagoBars Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 4:02 pm

  16. Health is good. Waiting on the okay for a Moderna booster, and then I’ll get it. In the meantime, I’ll be sure to get the flu shot.

Like most of us, I’m pretty tired of the pandemic and all the precautions we need to take, but, nevertheless, I’m taking them. I enjoyed being out in the sun this weekend, listening to great jazz, having street food and adult beverages, but sitting near other folks, I still kept my mask on.

  17. covid fine, blood pressure rising….Abreu gets hit AGAIN and benches clear. thinking of Jim Parque.

Comment by Amalia Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 4:20 pm

  18. Not great. Tired of being attacked by fools for doing the right thing.

My physical health is good though.

Comment by JS Mill Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 4:30 pm

  19. Healthy enough. Usual fall allergies / sinus issues.

Comment by RNUG Monday, Sep 27, 21 @ 4:37 pm

  20. ==Not as well as the White Sox, better than the Cubs, and wayyyy better than the Bears.==

Since sports are in the mix…the Blackhawks are practicing, and that always makes me feel better. (Let’s hope they have a “Sox” year.)

  21. I’m OK. Also a bit of pandemic fatigue, but the German elections have sustained me. I feel a great new joy at, instead of seeing a map of the US with red and blue, seeing a semicircle fill up with red, black, green, yellow, purple, blue. Now the (probably slow) negotiations start happening between various parties to see who can form a majority. And unfortunately the Dutch have already held their elections for 2021. The Swedes, on the other hand are up in 2022, so maybe I can start watching some intraparty conflict. Though my Swedish is very bad compared to the German and Dutch. A matter of needing subtitles (Swedish at least) to have a prayer of understanding anything at all. At least I can describe the obsession as education. To make it socially acceptable.

  22. Like RNUG, my normal fall allergies. I do think wearing a mask mitigates some of it. Otherwise, binge watching Midsommer Murders and getting ready for Open House Chicago.

  23. “bypass surgery”

I knew it was heart related. Glad you are doing well.

  26. Just got hit with shot #3 a couple of hours ago.

  27. “Fortunately, I have some tasty edibles “

I’m telling you. That and great music really help, also very pleasant early fall weather. Came across a lovely old tune, “Bad Time” by Grand Funk. Hadn’t heard it in years. Lovely song.

  28. Good, I was a little coughy and tired, so I took a home COVID test, which was negative. We didn’t have any at home, but now I think we’ll keep some around for future peace of mind.

  30. Feeling old but that comes with the age. Will get booster after all first responders , healthcare workers, teachers have had a chance to get theirs. Their lives are more important than mine.

  32. Had been slowly recovering from the nadir of last week’s breakthrough Covid infection. After this morning’s Regeneron shot I feel almost energetic. Hopefully it’s not just a placebo effect and it gets at what’s left in my lungs.

  35. Personally, I am doing fine. A shock the other day, tho, when I learned that a friend I’ve known for 40 years passed from Covid. UnVaxxed, and passed it onto a unvaxxed son. Please get your vax and wear your mask!

  36. My dog died. Life seems pointless right now.
In a perfect world dogs would live fifty years. We all know this isn’t a perfect world.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets are members of our families and the loss leaves such a hole.

  41. I’m doing well Rich, thanks for asking. Like a lot of other people, my physical health is good but also have pandemic fatigue. The current state of our national politics also has me concerned. Who would have thought, IL almost seems sane in comparison.

  42. I did almost lose my sanity on the commute home from work late yesterday afternoon. None of the IDOT work zone and construction pages mention it, but the left 2 lanes at the Lake Springfield bridge on I-55 were closed for construction yesterday afternoon, but nothing was being done at that time. 55 was backed up all the way to the 6th Street exit and 72. The closures contributed to additional tieups on Woodside Road between Toronto Road and Iron Bridge, and Route 4 southbound into Chatham. Likely more of the same today. Would help if IDOT had more information on this closure on any of their websites. Including how long the construction will last and what project is required.

  43. Doing pretty well overall, quite well health-wise. Got to camp and play music with a bunch of friends over the weekend, got my flu shot yesterday and looking forward to being eligible for the booster in a few weeks. Even more, looking forward to a move to retirement. Last day of work in 80 days, not that I’m counting.
