I have often described the political process as a series of arbitrary deadlines that unnecessarily drives hysteria. See: remap, may 31… https://t.co/T2FfUIsEfq

  1. The controversy just about 10 years ago was that there were some variances as far as how many people each ward has. And also they didn’t take the deadline that seriously back then either. Some vague rules perhaps or just a lax adherence to said rules or deadlies?

  4. “unnecessarily drives hysteria”

Manufactured drama is the grist of our 24/7 media mill.
Without it, there wouldn’t be near enough content.

Not sure what this statement is supposed to mean. I believe the big disputes are between the latino caucus and the african american caucus.

  9. Al, we do tax Jet Fuel. 21.9 a gallon and regular aviation fuel at 19.4 a gallon. That is where the federal money comes from this in part, local entities also tax aviation fuel. At every airport with fuel storage besides O’Hare and Midway, those facilities also pay into the state fuel storage fund (that helps pay for environmental reclamation on sites that have had leaking tanks).

The landing fees and the local fuel taxes help cover the “local” portion of these projects and a local contribution is required for these projects.

  11. Found a detailed link to the People’s map, but it’s too cumbersome to use.
Cannot find detailed links to either the Latino Caucus or Black Caucus city ward maps….but then, I guess, that’s the whole point. The voters are on a need-to-know basis - and evidently they feel we don’t need to know.

  17. re the reign of the white aldermen, even the so called independent map preserves the one Republican in the Council—guy always on Fox News– because they keep the NW corner of the city with his most likely voters.
