Pause for the cause

Posted in:

* I am in dire need of a haircut and I made an appointment for lunchtime. But, when I did, I forgot that Sangamon County Judge Reylene Grischow could issue an order or decision today on the Tom DeVore case(s). Too late to back out now, so if something breaks while I’m gone, you can use this post to discuss. Keep a close eye on the live coverage post. Otherwise, it’s just another open thread.

…Adding… MD 2020 is called “Mad Dog” for good reason. Stay away from that stuff…

  1. ICYMI: Illinois started out the pandemic with the highest deaths per capita in the Midwest and one of the highest in the country, before we had good science, good strategies, and good medical interventions.

Now, despite many hold outs, and opposition to that science, strategies and interventions led by Republican Party members, things have turned noticeably.

Illinois has fallen to 25th in cases per capita in the US and 30th in deaths per capita. We now also have one of the best records in the Midwest (Minnesota, what’s your secret?)

Still a long way to go, and I don’t think that Omicron is done with Rural Illinois I think it’s just getting started. But we have made tremendous progress as a state, and every once in awhile you need to take a moment to celebrate how far you have come even when a long road lies ahead.

  8. Candy - don’t color it. Former Tribune reporter Mary Wisnewski wrote an entire column about this and said she wished she had never died her hair.

  14. Invisible- I have been buzzed since the pandemic began. Made me wonder why I bothered getting real haircuts given my natural lack of hair on most of my head.

  16. DeVore swills the Mad Dog because in his town growing up, they banned Wild Irish Rose to keep the “immigrants” away.

  18. I’ve had a couple nights of Mad Dog in my time, but the stuff is pretty gross. God help us if it becomes the new mark of Trump-ian “authenticity”.

  19. DeVore consistency and continually tells us who he is as he grifts.

I do appreciate the no costumes or phony in that regard.

  20. @Bruce - not just any MD 2020, but ORANGE. Why am I not surprised?

  21. It sounds like DeVore needs some more education if he doesn’t recognize and accept basic public health guidelines.

  24. I hate to break it to mr. tough guy “keepin it real” Mcgrifter, but the very wealthy kids I knew growing up drank MD. And it wasn’t cool then.

    What a loser.

  25. What is the case # for this. I wish all news articles on court cases said the case # and all news articles on legislation said the bill #.

  26. You’d think DeVore would opine about “Kentucky Bourbon Old Fashioneds” and savoring victories.

    “Mad Dog”… mad dog… huh…

    Mad. Dog.

    Ah. Ok. Oh.
