Anyways, feel free to chat about some Illinois-centric topics. Today, I’m thinking about my favorite pumpkin patch.

  1. DeVore is requesting his “FOIA Warriors” (Facebook friends) to inundate the AG Office and Illinois Education Association with FOIA requests to see if they coordinated to require masks. What a way to abuse government for no other reason than to prove one can abuse government.

  2. My fave patch is the Great Pumpkin Patch in Arthur, IL. Tasty snacks, pretty expansive and some fun things for the littles too.

  3. ==DeVore is requesting his “FOIA Warriors” (Facebook friends) to inundate the AG Office and Illinois Education Association with FOIA requests to see if they coordinated to require masks.==

    That type of information is probably claimed to be protected by “attorney-client privilege.”

  4. Do you/DeVore mean ISBE? Because IEA is a private oganization.

  5. I enjoyed the patch east of Sherman, myself. Good food, plenty to do, fair admission price, and lots of fun for the kids. Anyone else have a favorite patch they enjoy with their family?

  6. Isn’t Illinois the leading pumpkin producer in these United States? If not the top, close to the top I believe.

  7. I grow my own pumpkins. Not necessarily for the pumpkins but for the blossoms. Good stuff. I end up getting a few pumpkins out of the deal–great to make a few jack o lanterns and roast the seeds.

  8. Sing some Pumpkin Carols while visiting your favorite patch:)

  9. =Illinois Education Association with FOIA requests=

    The IEA is a private organization. FOIA only applies to government entities.

  10. “to see if they coordinated to require masks”

    And what’s wrong with coordination of public health measures during a public health emergency?

    Comment by Steve Polite Thursday, Sep 29, 22 @ 9:48 am

  11. No, DeVore’s Facebook page asks his “friends” to FOIA the AG to see if the IEA coordinated with the AG. Crazy stuff.

  12. “Isn’t Illinois the leading pumpkin producer in these United States?”

    The Libby’s plant in Morton, IL supplies over 85% of the WORLD’S canned pumpkin market making Morton the “Pumpkin Capitol of the World”.

  13. why isn’t Illinois called The Pumpkin State? Also all this pumpkin talk is making me creep out, David S. Pumpkins, SNL.

  14. ==And what’s wrong with coordination of public health measures during a public health emergency?==

    Nothing wrong with that. As well as nothing wrong with continuing to mask in public right now, regardless of the number of doses you’ve received so far (5 for me).

  15. Where is all the noise around that school board vote yesterday to approve the near south side high school. The mayor gets rid of a school board member who is against the school. Replaces them with Ald Scott and then the mayor fill the alderman seat with Scott’s sister. The vote passed 4-3 with all the new members voting yes and all the long term members of the school board voting no. Sounds so shady….

  16. ===Where is all the noise===

    Patience, please.
