Terrible

Posted in:

I know that it’s been said many times before, but, man, the Illinois Democrats’ website is beyond weak.

Completely useless might be a better description. Go check it out just for laughs.

UPDATE: Someone over at the House Democrats (the people who run the state party) reminded me that when they were in the minority, they had lots of time to publish their own faxed newsletter. Yes, I remember that well. They’re a little busy these days. No time to invent computer games.

Even so, DPI’s website sucks. How long would a sprucing up take? A few hours of one person’s time?

  1. They claim it doesn’t translate to votes.. Rich, What’s your take? Does it translate to votes?

  2. They are missing out on opportunities.

  3. Whether the Democratic Party website translates into many votes or not - probably not - you are right that it is in a shambles and an embarrassment.

Since most younger voters and college students seem to be avid “surfers” the Democratic Party is missing a real opportunity to appeal to the Internet generation.

It doesn’t need lots of bells and whistles, just update it more than once a decade!!

  4. The Dems poor web site sends a strong message:
We don’t care about the public including members of our party. We don’t want you to become too informed or too involved. Your party leaders have things under control. We’ll call you when we need your votes or your money.

  5. I think the website is a disaster, and it hurts the party in a few swing districts (like Coulson’s and Jakobbson’s). Party identification is a good thing, especially for a downticket race like state rep, and younger voters are particularly impressionable. I don’t know why someone as savvy as Madigan ignores the potential of the web.
