The next specially named street in Springfield should be Jesse White Avenue and I’d do the same for the square downtown.

Gary LaPaille passed away this week, following a battle with ALS. I briefly worked for him when he was the IL Dem Party Chair. I wasn’t privy to the details of his famous falling out with Madigan, but always had a high regard for Gary. He treated me well, when I was nobody, and I never forgot that.
He’s gone too soon, and may he rest in peace.

The NYT did a report on Carbondale and our new clinics. The reporting is rather disappointing and it really doesn’t feel like they understood the community before releasing the article.
Covers the organized and planned opposition at the first city council meeting, but not follow up protests in support. Misrepresents Carbondale’s history with abortion care and the city’s political lean. Doesn’t discuss gender affirming care at all. And the first “local” interviewed is a pastor from Marion, not Carbondale.

First of all, R.I.P Gary. He was the trailblazer for Madigan’s Minions.
On a happier note, today is the Irish Fellowship Holiday Luncheon at Chicago Hilton. There will be a room full of Irish men and women telling wonderful stories, most of which will be a bit exaggerated (i.e. untrue). And a whole lot of Guinness and Irish Whiskey. A great way to kick off the holiday season.

The GA session results will give Illinois good mo heading into 2023. Things look much brighter compared to all the bleaker years of the past.

The Dirksen Parkway SOS building is in need of a name change. Instead of calling the main drivers’ building “Dirksen,” I like the idea of renaming it the “Jesse White Building.”
