Question of the day

Posted in:

* Isabel used hizzoner’s tweet in her question yesterday, so let’s start with this mayoral update for the doubters…

Missouri’s legislature has a bad habit of playing ringers in the Illinois vs. Missouri Bi-State Softball Showdown. So, maybe Mayor Johnson could be persuaded to play in Busch Stadium this August.

* The Question: Your season prediction for your favorite MLB team?

  1. If you asked this at the end of April, I would have said my Buccos would win the Central. But then the Pirates stank in May. I don’t think they are as good as they were in May, but probably not as bad as May. I predict they will finish around .500

  2. The Sox stink. It’s the entire organization. Prediction? They sell. They finish in fourth place. And then in the off season, they take the developmental assets they accrued and trade them again for garbage a la Cesar Hernandez. As long as the current owners are the owners, I am a perma-bear.

  3. Mediocre. Expect all the more or less local teams to finish in the bottom to half.

  4. As a lifelong Astros fan, they’ll make it at least to the ALCS (or as the rest of the AL knows it for the last 6 years, the Houston Astros Invitational). I’m hoping for another WS championship.

  5. Cardinals - 85 or so wins, maybe second in division but no playoffs. Unless the miracle trade for Ohtani materializes. Tee hee.

  6. I expect to have access to a lot of Cubs tickets this year, many for free. Given the bullpen woes and curious decisions by both Jed Hoyer and Rossy, I expect the Cubs banner to be flying low in September, possibly at the bottom of the NL Central.

With any luck, the Cards will be right there with us as they are now.
