  1. Hope B-N leaders and State of Illinois can work out something on financing for more housing where there has been tremendous job growth https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2024-05-07/normal-mayor-floats-loan-interest-rate-buydown-program-to-address-housing-shortage

  2. Per WUIS this morning, USPS is pushing ahead with moving the regional distribution out of Springfield.

Given how much mail is generated by state agencies/departments, this seems penny wise and pound foolish, but given my experience in working with feds, entirely unsurprising.

  3. Hawks didn’t win first overall, but standing pat at second overall is the next best option.

Now to wait and see if the Hawks pick a talent Russian still over there, a talented Belarusian already over here, or if they go off the board entirely.

  4. Ref USPS and Springfield. When I sent Priority Mail items to Springfield, they were routed right past Springfield to a Missouri site for sorting, only to be sent right back to Springfield. Not sure if USPS’s plan would change that totally unnecessary routing, actually making things more efficient.
