Is this the guy the cops are looking for? Weird.
UPDATE: I didn’t notice this in Sneed’s column today (and, as I said in comments, Michael gets a bad rap sometimes for the goofy celeb gossip, but I have loads of respect for her unbelievably strong federal and local law enforcement sources):
Sneed has been told part of the police investigation’s focus is on a New York Times photograph of Matthew Hale being accompanied by several followers, one of whom seems “strikingly similar” to one of the two police sketches released of possible murder suspects.

That is quite interesting.
Although I don’t know what to think about the person commenting at the end of the thread linking to SNEED of all people for confirmation of this theory.
Sorry, but that immediately makes me question it.

I don’t know about law enforcement sources, but otherwise Sneed is an embarassment to the Sun-Times. She has nothing original to say and recycles news items I read days before in other publications. She has no talent and adds no value to the Sun-Times.

Didja see Sneed yesterday, with her “scoop” on the $50,000 reward? Hah… She “reported” in her “column” that she’d heard they were going to offer a reward. 10 pages back into the exact same edition, the Sun-Times news reporters reported that!
Sheesh. She’s a total hack (almost all of the time).

Egads, she’s always part of a dont invitem item. methinks that if i were a journalist, she would make me ashamed of my profession. i honestly believe that she would report as fact any anonomyous juicy tidbit left on her voice mail. no source checking — no integrity. makes me sick.
i used to think that of you, rich, but im being won over by your charm and charisma. seriously, you are fairer than i once believed you to be. you should still quit smoking so that we have you around longer to provide us sneedlings before that woman “journalist” at the sun times.

I stand by what I said. Michael has a bad reputation from the celebrity stuff, but she has great law enforcement sources. You’re entitled to your opinion on this matter, but if you don’t recognize the good with the bad, you’re wrong and just following the latest fad.

good sources dont justify sensationalism. she is a bad journalist. she gave the crook ryan a pass on all of his corruption because he took her to cuba

It’s pretty common for law endorcement to develop relationships with the gossip columnists–they work on background and that suits the needs of law enforcement often.
Almost all of the news in St. Louis came out through Jerry Berger and now his replacement in regards to initiatives and the such by the US Attorney.
Of course, we have the Evening Whirl as an entire paper which profiles the US Attorneys and local prosecutors and their cases every week so it gets some of what they normally would, but still law enforcement finds the gossip columnist handy.
I still can’t stand Sneed, but Rich is right.

Oops. Sneed went on the second Ryan Cuba trip. I forgot about that one. Still, it’s a big stretch to think that one junket changed her mind about the governor. She always liked George, right from the beginning, for whatever reason.

she didnt go to cuba? but what about the famous picture of her, ryan the crook, and the sneedling herself having a toast? she puts that up four times a year and brags about her trip to cuba. you sure that you went to cuba rich?
