How ’bout them Bears?

Posted in:

Man, there was some magic on that field last night.

This is a Chicago Bears open thread. Have fun.

  1. Lovie brought in Grossman at exactly the right time. He gave Orton a chance in the first half to try to put something together and he was flat. Also, it was smart on his part not to bring in Grossman last week because it really made no sense to bring out a guy coming back from an ankle injury into those awful conditions.

My prediction - Bears lose the Superbowl!

  2. i notice this every year with rookies — they hit a wall after about 12 games. they are just not that used to playing this long into the season and they haven’t really gotten a full year of the strength and conditioning training that the rest of the team goes through…

  3. Man, that D is amazing and with Grossman in at QB, the Bears have become a very dangerous team. If they aren’t careful, the Bears could make some noise in the playoffs!! I love it! BEAR DOWN!

  4. Vick got abused by the Bears’ defense last night. Vick is the best throwing running back in the NFL.

  7. Orton was not very good. He did well for a rookie, but he should have been removed asap. Anyone calling for Orton to start because “he had an 8 game winning streak” is a moron. Grossman makes the offense better, period. Thanks Kyle, but you are not the better qb.

  8. I think Lovie made the right choice. Orton did well for a rookie, but he wasn’t getting the job done. The weather helped us too.

    One more win!

  9. I hate to take away the magic number 8 of comments here — but for once the offense was fun to watch. Grossman might not be the second coming of Dan Marino — but wouldn’t we take the second coming of Erik Kramer?

But the true story — the Defense. They absolutely terrorized Ron Mexico. He can’t pick offensive players to save his life — but Jerry Angelo knows his defense. Alex Brown was a Sunday pick, fourth round - figure that. Tommie Harris, Ogunleye, Briggs - -and how about Urlacher. Most fun game yet.

  10. Alex Brown dropped off Day 1 because of a “problem”. Jerry guessed right. We still have a fair weather problem with our thinness at safety.

If we can win 2 and Seattle falters we could have a cold weather playoff in our ice bowl.

Orton does need a seasoning and a better reaction time to the fast moving field situation. It’s good to have a back-up who has eight wins under his belt. I did notice that Grossman took a much deeper drop thanm we have seen with Ortman.
