The defense on both sides of town is atrocious.
The big question for the Sox next year has to be Ramirez. My guess is he goes back to second and Beckham plays short, his natural position.

had to turn to WGN radio after for schadenfreude. Santo sounded like he was going to die. funny thing was the commercial after was a promo from Soriano! omg, that non catch catch was very amusing. as was his game ending

Rich Miller, you’re right, the White Sox are superior when it comes to beating up first base coaches. As a Chicagoan I rooted for the Sox in the 2005 World Series. If the Cubs ever did make it to the World Series I know every Sox fan in this town would be cheering against them. That’s the difference between the two team.

Both teams are horrible. Unfortunately, as a strong Cubs fan, the Cubs are worse. Milton Bradley is a complete bust out….the pitching is gone and Soriano, Fukudome and the rest couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat.

For the record, the Cubs were at a bit of an additional disadvantage from the absence of their star 1B Derrick Lee, who was with his wife as she gave birth to their second child today. So Fox had to play 1B instead of replacing that useless clown Soriano in left field.

Here’s your 2010 Cub outfield:
LF: Soriano, $16 million. Signed for 2011-2014 at $18 million a year. Full no-trade protection.
CF: Fukudome, $13 million. Signed for 2011 at $13.5 million. No-trade protection except for teams of his choice.
RF: Bradley, $9 million. Signed for 2011 at $12 million.
That’s a lot of money for perhaps the worst defensive outfield in baseball (Quentin, Pods and Dye are in that picture). Two Designated Hitters who can no longer hit and a mediocre center fielder who can’t hit.
One of the many reasons the Rickets were able to knock about $200 million off Zell’s asking price. They’re going to have to eat most of those salaries just to get rid of them.

C’mon all you curmudgeonly critics. That was actually a pretty good game. It was mostly well pitched, provided a few laughs, and until the very end was nip and tuck so that either team could have pulled it out. Maybe I’m just a romantic at heart, but baseball is a game, the great American summer pastime, and true fans shouldn’t need their team to be roaring into the post season in order to be able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon at the ball park. Oh, and WAY TO GO SOX!!

Seriously, why was my post deleted? It regarded both teams being bad but questioning your statement about “stadium tourists”? You know when I wrote about the higher ratings for Cubs on TV and radio versus the Sox. Rich, you’re team is better but my facts were correct and not mean spirited. You know, the one about the Cubs have the largest or highest road attendance average whereas the Sox had the lowest. You shouldn’t deleted the comments just because you disagree with them. Especially when they’re factual. What, you didn’t like my last sentence about the historical ineptness of both teams? The tallest midget comment? Seriously….

I don’t think that the “choke” comment is accurate.
“Choke” implies that the talent was there. The Cubs thought that Carlos Zambrano was the answer. That’s a team without a chance to begin with.
