Illinois State Police officials, on behalf of 13 states to the south and west of Illinois, are asking for federal stimulus money to buy hundreds of special cameras that would be placed on interstates known as frequent routes for drug-runners.
The projected cost is listed at $9.9 million.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood promised the full backing of the federal government to fix what ails area transit if Chicago gets the 2016 Olympics, but he wasn’t as forthcoming on the consequences of a state spat over high-speed rail Thursday.

The Payton statue is an easy fix. Put it in Grant Park/Musem campus outside of the Soldier Field grounds. It could be part of a gateway from the Millennium and Grant park garages to the stadium. Perfect for pictures with the statue and the stadium in the background.
Soldier Field remain solely a monument to service members.

Is bounty hunting legal in Illinois? I might consider making the drive all the way to the northwest suburbs and tracking down this Mr. Freeze look alike; if there is some substantial Ca$h in it; other than just what he robbed from the bank this morning.
Tracking this guy could be less dangerous than many other occupations in this state; and could be worth a lot more money.
What’s the low-down on bounty hunting?

The camera proposal bothers me more than just a little. I’m sure it’ll light up the ACLU like a arc welder, and on this issue I think I’d probably support them.

Mark kirk got ripped a new one this morning by cilizza in the washington post over his position on cap and trade. It’s worth a discussion whether this flip flop thing of his will be a bigger issue than bush, which the same columnist said would fail as an issue against him.

The U.S. Marshal’s office said about noon that it appeared that fugitive Robert Maday had been arrested on Illinois Highway 59 near West Chicago.
So much for the bounty.
