Plug-ins and extensions

Posted in:

This isn’t Illinois-related, but I thought it might be interesting.

On my Firefox browser, I use DownThemAll, PDF Download, and Tabbrowser Preferences extensions, among others.

On my Treo 650, I use LED-Off, Scroll-Jump, Switch5, Guitar Tuner, OneKey, and several other plug-ins.

What are your favorite plug-ins and extensions?

  1. i have to ask: what guitars do you have? (my primary guitar is a takamine 12-string, but i have a les paul that i play for electric, a dean that’s tuned in open-e and a classical acoustic-electric).

  2. Rich,

While it’s not freeware, I swear by Beyond Contacts. If you sync with Outlook, your calendar on the 650 or 600 will look just like your calendar on your PC, color coded and all(syncs with my mac too). Full integration for all Outlook features, maps more fields, etc. Has a bunch of other good functionality. I’ve used it for ages. Check it out.

  3. FireFox: IE View, Tabbrowser Prefs, FasterFox, ForecastFox, IE Tab, FLST, del.icio.us, Performancing, PDF Download, Colorful Tabs, FireFTP

Treo 650: Agendus Pro 10, Chatter, Directory Assistant (best freeware ever…), Toccer, CardExport, LEDoff, TreoAlarm, Resco Explorer, and the BT Dial-Up Networking hack so that I can use the Treo as a wireless modem for my laptop.

Do you know of a good way to publish to WordPress from a Treo?

  4. Glad to see the PowWeb guy showing up the day after I had so many problems here. A visit yesterday afternoon would’ve been nice… could’ve saved me from that 20 minute-wait on the phone to speak with a tech guy who had ZERO answers.

All bitterness aside, I use the treo’s browser to post here. Works fine. Wish I could always say the same for PowWeb.

  5. And, Bored Now, I just have a modest acoustic guitar. Sounds good, but nothing spectacular.

I am the guitarist of last resort.

  6. heh. nothing wrong with that. i was wondering why you’d have a tuner on your treo, but now i get it. we have a couple of tuners, so i wouldn’t have thought to put one on the pda.

    ROCK ON!

  7. If you install the latest updates for the 650, you don’t need the BT hack, it has DUN access built-in. At least with Sprint it does.

This site will walk you through it.

  8. Rich Miller,

I’m not with PowWeb, I just use them for my site, and forgot to update my profile here after I linked to them earlier. Are they your hosting service that been giving you such problems?

    John Fritchey,

Verizon, in their infinite ass-backwardness, deliberately disabled the BT DUN profile on their Treo 650s.
