Afternoon strike music videos

Posted in:

* As the Sun-Times reports that a “tentative deal” on a teachers union contract has been reached, let’s while away the afternoon with some strike-related music.

* Hip-hoppers Rebel Diaz have posted a new rap called “Chicago Teacher.” Listenable, politically leftist and literate

* Striking teachers from five Chicago schools took time out from the picket lines to make a fun little video based on “Call Me Maybe”

Pretty good stuff, but I actually prefer this parody of the song.

* And the Chicago Teachers Strike Marching Band fires ‘em up

  1. Those are some really scary characters the Illinois Policy Institute put up in their video.

Usually, you have to go to church, Dominicks or a block party to encounter such sinister desperadoes.

Seriously, would anyone want to live in a community where the big brains at the IPI held sway?
