This is either the shortest gubernatorial appointment in history, or the governor is in possession of a magical time machine.
*** UPDATE *** They’ve resubmitted the appointment. It now concludes in January of 2017.

Catching these is fun, I suppose, but I wouldn’t read too much into them as a metaphor for the Rauner administration. I kept an eye on appointment letters coming out the Blago/Quinn office for more than 10 years, and they had quite a number of ‘typos’, too. Sadly, it seems to be a job that isn’t taken seriously and given to a succession of junior flunkies who worked on the campaign.

We just misunderstood what Rauner meant by turnaround team. Evidently it means that they turnaround dates and the names of agencies in their letters.

I’m confused, if this is a temporary appointment, shouldn’t his title be “Acting Director?” If it’s for two years and his title will be Director, why is it a “temporary appointment?”

In the good old days, when people accepted advice, the SOS probably looked at the document and said,”uh you know you just name a dude to a negative three appointment…” but since the leaders of Scabistan don’t want your corrupt advice the docs just get stamped and filed.

If Rauner does have a time machine, maybe he can take us back to March 2013, the last time an Illinois D-1 school made the Big Dance.
Or maybe zoom Opening Day to mid-June, so Chris Bryant can start the season up north.

I can here him saying during the campaign that they will run government like private business. This must be what he meant….in private industry you pull an old letter, copy and paste the new info and heck with checking to see if done correctly.

The last line is also puzzling: “Former Member”? I think this may have been a “type-over” for a letter that was done for a Commission. Oh well, I guess those campaign workers just aren’t working out as clerical help.

Well, AA, just choose the out-of-state teams that the best Illinois players are on, because there sure are plenty of them in the tournament, year in and year out.
Another former Illinois high school player will likely be the No. 1 overall NBA pick again this year, but he’s playing for another former Illinois high school player at Duke.
Lou and Self had recruiting years where they could lock down the state, but the new guys, not so much.
Bradley used to get big-time players, and, of course, DePaul. But I think DePaul is moving on to the casino business down at McCormick Place.
