  1. I think our perfidious governor forgets he was the one quoted as saying “Crisis creates leverage”.

  2. Rauner needs to find for me someone who won’t move to Illinois because we DON’T have term limits…

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 12:28 pm

  3. Again and again and again rehash with himself at the center…

  4. Well maybe Gov Rauner should come out and say he’ll fund the re-elect of any Democrat that comes out to vote for his reforms.

  5. what a total waste of time

    Comment by spidad60 Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 12:33 pm

  6. Well, that was a complete and utter waste of time and taxpayer resources.

Comment by Fixer Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 12:33 pm

  7. Woman says she’s afraid she can’t raise her children in Illinois. Rauner says that’s why he ran for governor. Let that sink in for a sec.

  8. I can’t wait for Diana Rauner to do her #RaunerLive with Bruce!

    That’s goin’ to be epic!

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 12:36 pm

  9. Against my better judgement I did watch this campaign commercial once again.

One comment and question - We know from the Rauner Foundation reports that our Governor is very generous with the Ivy League and Private schools - all good. But I was amazed to find out that he financially supported my Alma Mater. Some details, please.

  10. This is the future for politicians. Eliminate the press. Speak directly to the masses through fb or a tweet. They control the “dialogue” (I cracked up with the Gov characterized it as such).

Rich, I thought you did a great job with your comments. In this new age that is so important.

As for the Governor, nothing new. I did like him fumbling with reading the questions, almost like he had never seen them before or rehearsed his responses.

Comment by Henry Francis Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 12:37 pm

  11. I cannot believe term limits are the Holy Grail of a balanced budget. He just won’t give up.

Comment by Cable Line Beer Gardener Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 12:37 pm

  12. EVanstonian, he tried that. It didn’t play well in a Democratic primary.

  13. Now when’s Madigan and Cullerton going to have a facebook live? LOL

  16. Ugh. He reminds me of a horrible mall Santa who just listens inattentive to the needs and wants of the children he has to deal with….until he clocks out abruptly for his break.

  17. facts on facts on facts, I don’t think his Dunkin escapade was explicit to the public. I think that was aimed at the aware

    Learn, don’t “teach”

Democrats that got IllinoisGo monies were vilified by the Democratcs. It became so toxic even the talk of being close to IllinoisGo hurt.

  19. How many people in the real world do you think watch this? Because I’m betting the majority are media, political junkies, members of the GA and their staffs, and Rauner loyalists.

Comment by Archiesmom Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 1:03 pm

  20. Ugh! Just Ugh!

    Comment by ILGOV2018 Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 1:11 pm

  21. Sorry, I think my first response got eaten by the internet.

First, I apologize, I am not trying to give off the impression that I “know” what the Governor was trying to do with Dunkin and money. I don’t, and I am not trying to teach or lecture.

Personally I just don’t think that you can equate shadow money and a non-explicit arrangement with a sitting Governor throwing his brand and considerable cash behind a budget deal, including not challenging crossovers and a promise to fund re-election efforts if the “Madigan and _____ he controls” folks try to primary them. It would make for a much more interesting primary, not to mention an explicit strategy might soften the Governor’s negatives in a Dem district because both the Dem and the Governor look like they’re “at work”

  22. How are Woody from Toy Story and Bruce Rauner different?

You pull the cord on their back and they both keep saying the same things, over and over again.

The difference is Woody actually cares about others and would be a better Governor.

    Comment by Chicago 20 Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 1:13 pm

  23. I’ve read this site for a long time, and I’ve watched our governor since he was elected (well, long before)…. but the dropping the G’s is, for the first time, sounding really cheesy. I say this without any partisan anything… just an observation.

Comment by Delimma Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 1:56 pm

  24. Anon221, That is JUST PERFECT.

Comment by Ms. SHEESH Tuesday, Dec 13, 16 @ 3:06 pm

  25. ===Now when’s Madigan and Cullerton going to have a facebook live? LOL===

    Can you imagine?

Madigan: (tapping camera lens) “Is this thing on? Can they see me? Oh, they can hear me too?!”
