Good news about Carlos Hernandez Gomez

* I received some really good news via e-mail early this afternoon from Randi Belisomo Hernandez, who is Carlos Hernandez Gomez’s wife…

Wanted to let you know your blog post on Capitol Fax was the best thing that’s happened for Carlos in a long time, other than his cancer being removed!!!!!

Just read him all the messages and it made him feel so good.

We expect to be out of intensive care tomorrow, and in the hospital another 10-12 days or so. The doctors say he’s doing great, except for all the questions he keeps asking everyone!!

He never stops.

The power of positive thought never ceases to amaze me.

I replied that I’d like her permission to post her e-mail on the blog and she got back to me a few minutes ago, along with this…

Carlos is in a room now….though they told us they expected him to be in ICU thru tomorrow!

He’s doing so great though they moved the process along ahead of schedule…..but I believe a gang war in Milwaukee aided that.

Shooting victims needed the ICU space……rough crowd around here!

His family is with him but Carlitos still cannot have outside visitors but he’s doing well.

Carlos, I’ve always appreciated your thoughtful reporting on WBEZ and spot-on comments on Chicago Tonight — you think deep and on your feet at the same time, an enviable gift.

And ever the reporter, you got all these media luminaries and political honchos to reveal themselves by name on Cap Fax! Who knew so many of them followed the blog so closely? Rich, it is very much appreciated that you made it possible for so many of Carlos’ fans to “get in to see him” so soon after his surgery. I know many of us would have had no idea how to get updates, or how to contact him with well wishes had you not opened up the special blog threads on Capitol Fax. Thanks Rich, and keep surprising everybody there at the hospital Carlos!

Thanks for facilitating this lifeline to our friend Carlos.

Carlito, hang in there buddy. And try to remember not to ask the docs and nurses all those nasty probing questions you like so much. They’re not your favorite alderman and they simply have your life in their hands.

Ever since you told me about what was to happen yesterday, I’ve been trying to send good vibes your way. You’re a great journalist and really cool guy. We need you back here on the job soon! My thoughts and prayers are with you buddy. Get well soon.
